My 04 petrol CRV is due an oil change.
When I enter the car detail on Micks garage,it's giving me a choice of 15w40 mineral,10w40semi,5w40fully,5w30fully synthetic.

I'm unsure which is most suited to my engine.

There's also several different oil filters. Is there much of a difference in the types of filter apart from the price?

    Thanks lads.

5w30 fully synthetic, it takes 4.2 litres of it so you either get a large 5 litre jar which I think Mobil still make or get 4 litres and 1 litre.

Mann or Bosch oil filters are good.

5w30 it is so ,with a bosch filter. Thanks lads.

Had a look under the bonnet at the filter earlier, might be a bastard to get off.

Why the fcuk can't they design an engine with an accessible filter?

Where's the fun in that I suppose.Nothing like a bit of hardship for job satisfaction.

Also when ordering you should get a new sump washer, Micks Garage have them too, either search for sump or washer and it should show up, less than a euro each. I find it the engine is warm the filter should come off easier although the feckin oil will be hot too so be careful.

Where's the filter in a crv, on my civic the threaded part of the filter points upwards so you don't get oil all over your hands when you take it off. Piece of cake.

A blueprint filter is also very good and probably cheaper than bosch or mann

If the filter is like the one on my honda(fairly sure it is)with like 10 or 12 sides at the end of it,you can get a filter remover on ebay €4 or €5 i think it was, that sits onto the end of it,1/2 inch drive on the other side,so much easier than the strap/chain type remover.
