Potts/De Bromhead

The multiple Grade 1-winning partnership between Henry de Bromhead and leading owners Alan and Ann Potts has come to an end following the removal of 13 horses from the Waterford trainer’s stable last week.

Sizing John, one of last season’s elite novice chasers, is now being trained by Jessica Harrington, who has also been sent the smart Supasundae. The mud-loving grey Smashing is among those to have joined Mouse Morris. Colm Murphy and Jim Dreaper are the other beneficiaries of the shock decision to completely dispense with De Bromhead’s services.

Strange one. Always thought he had more than 13 of their horses for some reason

This is coming for a long time. He has gotten more and more outside owners in the last 2/3 years. Gigginstown have also sent him a heap of horses. Id say De Bromhead is delighted to have got rid of him. The man by all accounts is a nutter as well as ignorant p...k, who has no clue about horses.

As for his choice of new trainer, you can only laugh. Potts horses will go from being the best schooled to looking like they have never seen a fence with Colm Murphy.
As for Jim Dreaper, how Potts still have horses with this fella is beyond me unless he is happy having his horses running in point to points and hunter chases.

Henry seemed to side with Andrew Lynch when Potts fired him out of the blue.

    That didn't help their relationship.

Wanted Potts out of the stable....

Burke is gone to the dogs anyways. Never was and never will be a top jockey.

I remember hearing Potts being interviewed a few years back. He said his favourite bet was to back horses around the 5/2 mark each way. WTF??! :D

not many trainers get rid of both De Bromhead and Mullins

Potts a very difficult individual to deal with, Murphy and Dreaper though are hardly better than Henry, as alluded to already his horses are the best schooled in the country bar none- a joy to behold his chasers jumping - his handling of Sizing Europe should have ensured that he trained horses for Potts for eternity

Murphy is the biggest mystery in the training ranks - went backwards at a rate of knots from days of Brave Inca and Feathered Lady, at a time when he should have been kicking on

a good opportunity for Henry to get a few more off Giggy, they have plenty to go around, did a good job with Identity Thief for them year

Didn't Murphy marry into money or something? Say he's not overly bothered now about the training side of things.

He did. He moved a good few out about 3/4 months ago.

Things like this happen all the time in racing. It could be owners and or jockeys who think they know better than the trainers or simply unhappiness with results. Who knows.
