Hey lads, I've put on quite a bit of weight recently partly owing to medication but I'm looking to buy some new clothes for going away (I'm heading to Prague on Erasmus) and was looking to pick up some new clothes without breaking the bank. I was wondering if anyone here had any recommendations for where to try. Preferably somewhere with a walk in store in Cork or Waterford. Debenhams seems to be a good bet looking at their website.

If you're heading to Prague, they'll be cheaper there if money is a concern.

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

On St. Patricks Street in Cork there's a shop called Mr. Big Man on the left hand side as you approach Daunt Square. Waist measurements up to 76". Chest up to 80"

    What medication are you on?

Not sure how big you've gotten but have found the F&F range in Tescos usually had up to XXXL size shirts, and large enough trousers as well.

Is there anything to be said for trying to lose the weight?

Not having a go but there is certain medication that makes it near impossible for people to lose weight while they are on it.

    How large is large?

Jack Jones and Superdry consistently have XXL tshirts / jumpers in stock, the former being much much cheaper than the latter. Getting jeans over 40" anywhere is rather hard, don't think either of those shops do them despite XXL tshirts fitting people larger quite easily. Slacks or cargo pants are much easier for some reason. I've managed to get down to 38" which means I can buy practically anywhere again with very little difference.

Debenhams can be utterly hit and miss - they don't have anything in the way of larger shoes (I'm large in all directions clothing/footwear wise, 6'4" and size 13 feet) and the one belt they had that fit me actually fell apart when I was putting in on - was refunded without hassle though.

And walk around naked while doing it? How is that going to help op? I think it's great if someone is making an effort to look presentable despite some extra weight.

If you are going to Prague S.Oliver is a good shop to visit. They do bigger sizes well and the quality is decent.

If you're looking for just everyday clothes at no great expense you could try Heatons as their clothes seem to be very big fitting. I am small size for most stuff as I'm not fond of baggy clothes but I find that even the small and medium clothes from heatons would be hanging off me like a L or XL from any other shop. Have a look.

But then, as someone else said, how large are you? I mean there's big guys who might be able to find high street stuff readily and then there's BIG BIG guys who'd need to go to specialist clothes shops.

What sort of medication are you on?

Not telling you your business now or anything but perhaps you should speak to your doctor about this weight gain side effect of your meds. If it's gotten to the point of your having to buy specialist clothing perhaps ye should review the situation with meds.

It all depends on how large really?

I am a 2 or 3 Xl. I never get anything to fit me in cheap shops. I do most of my shopping online, but find that the department stores, like marks, and debenhams do decent stuff.

Hope I am in the right section. I know its technically not Winter yet, but looking at the weather today, its pretty grim.

What is most men's favorite jacket type for this time of the year? I have been wearing dufflecoats for last few years and fed up of them and want a slight change.

Suggestions welcome for a no style man. :p

Online store just doing bigger lads clothes called "Bad Rhino". Sister company doing clothes for bigger girls too.

I got a few things off them. Good, accurate measurements, decent price, etc.

Shirts tend to be the american style (as in they continue a few inches past the waistline, so you'e not showing off beer gut to everyone.)

Some brands are different to others, for example I personally find jack and jones (2xl 120cm chest) and some others all seem to fit very small for their size. a 2xl is like a large or xl in other brands (Adidas a 120cm falls within the xl). You can check size guides online, just type the brand and size guide into google and can usually find the size guide, and compare to something that fits accordingly.

Debenhams (St George by Duffer etc seem bigger fitting) you can filter by size, and also sportsdirect often have larger sizes and again you can filter by size etc.
