Never seen one in this country. Odd. They are great cattle.

I remember a lady in N. Ireland having some. Hang on, I'll see if I can find a name for you.

She'd imported them but maybe you could try and get in contact and see how she went about it or if she has any calves to sell now.

South Devon are a beef breed but originally they were considered a dual purpose animal. Very similar in colour to Lm when pure bred. While a traditional British breed they go more to Continental weights. They were also used as a draught animal so were quite popular

    Slava Ukrainii

Hi Bass Reeves thank you for taking the time to inform me more on the South Devon's as I would love to learn as much about them. We have cross bred South Devon twin calves a male and heifer and they are so docile whilst thriving great, the bull calf was fostered off to another cow to give him the best chance we could. The mother is a limousine and calved down with no trouble despite it being a twin labour for her.

Isn't it odd that they didn't make more a presence here before now. Theyd be the best cattle on the British Isles to rival the continental breeds. Was looking at them in the Welsh show this year. Great stock.. Also the Welsh black breed would rival any Angus.

Hi Willfarman thanks for your comment, it's great to read the encouraging reviews of this lovely breed of cattle, I'm fascinated by them and would love to see more of them, what time of the year is the Welsh show held. I don't suppose il be seeing any Devs at the ploughing match.
