Sky remote problem

For the last few weeks certain buttons on my sky plus hd rev 9 remote have become difficult to respond. It seemed to start when my sky box got updated and when the BBC took off the red button. I had an older remote which I fixed by taking it apart and cleaning it but this rev 9 one seems to be riveted together. Is there anyway anyone knows to take it apart to clean it? have already reset it and re programmed it with no change.

They all get gunged up and stop responding properly, cleaning the contacts and rubber panel will fix it.

Unless they have changed them those rev9 remotes; remove 1 screw under the batteries and the two halves can then be prised apart along the seam.

Older sky+ SD remotes will work a HD box if you still have one.

It would appear that the new sky remotes, this only being less than 1yr old cannot be taken apart then as I have done before by unscrewing the screw under the batteries and prising both halves apart and cleaning the contacts- as it is a rivet. This was a proper sky remote purchased from a large well known department store. I know it was fairly cheap and comparing the cost from E Bay I thought would likely to be more reliable. I may try to drill out the rivet to enable me to clean it before trying the old remote which is several years old now or before spending my pension money on a new remote.I prefer to repair things which are no bother to fix than spend more money on a replacement.Thank you for the replies.
