    Hey Popsy,
I bought one there a few weeks ago,
spent the first few outings getting used to it and becoming comfortable.

I went out fishing on it there for the first time on saturday in cavan and caught my first 5 lb pike.
theyre great to have, i've been out on the sea, but not fishing yet.

talk to lads on the irish kayak angling forum,
theyre really nice, and will answer all your questions and give advice on whats needed.

anywhere between 800 to 1200 to be from nothing to ready to get in anytime i want.

your up near the 1200 mark when you get a dry suit which I would recommend,
nothing better than staying dry even if you take a dunk.

I've been at it for a few years now and it's feicin brilliant. Weather this year has been pretty awful and I've struggled to get out as much as I'd like, but when I do it's great. Landed an 8lb Pollock recently on a light rod with 7lb line and a tiny hook - brilliant craic altogether. So easy to throw the yak on top of the car and head off at short notice. You can fish so many spots that are unfishable for boats or shore fishers.

We've got some great club members down that neck of the woods so you should join the Irish Kayak Angling Club http://www.irishkayakangling.com/forum/index.php

It's free membership and we have regular meets. In fact our next big weekend meet up is down in Cork so you should pop along and we'll get you out fishing in no time.
