06 Ford Focus dashboard cluster failure

    Hi,

So Ford have told me I need a replacement. I sent in the car hooping it was a sensor issue on the Transmission as the car is going into a temp limp mode but they say the whole unit is done for. So 900 quid for a genuine one or about 500 for a refurb and them doing it. Now I always get the car serviced by them but have no problem getting work done at an indy.

I have been doing some reading about people just getting the dash dry sprayed and cleaned but I can't determine if that's just on the earlier Focus models than mine. Anyone have any suggestions? I am going to contact the last indy I used in the mean time anyway to see what he thinks and see if he has access to a replacement piece.

    Thanks.

Is it a diesel Focus that you have? What mileage is in it? I have a spare cluster for a diesel model and the tools to program it for your car but the mileage is important.

    Hi,

Thanks for the offer but it's a 1.6 petrol, there are about 121k on the clock.

Have you got two keys for the car or just one?

You can get these clusters repaired for very reasonable money.

Whereabouts in the country are you?

I have two keys for it and I am Dublin based.......I feel something building here!!

Would be interested in looking at getting it repaired, have a spare week on holidays where I wouldn't need the car.

A replacement cluster is only €50 from a scrap yard. It's easily possible to have in and programmed in an hour if you have 2 keys.
