So it looks like Fibre has finally arrived.
It feel like winning the lottery but now I've so many options!:D

Obviously I'm signing up for the max I can get which could be 90mb up from 2.4...

Offered tv as well - however basic tv pack does not have sky.

€35 a month for first 6 then 90 thereafter on an 18 month contract.

It's better than what I pay atm.

Fibre yes - eir tv worth ditching sky in favour of it?

I watch a bit of stuff on sky atlantic but it's not crucial or like I could not get to see it alternatively etc.

Sky is miles ahead of eir tv. Also there's no option to say sign up for say 50mb, it's all the same price and you get whatever your line can handle.

Get Vodafone Simply Fibre BB and keep Sky. If you take TV from Eir or Vodafone you're shaving 20Mb off your line for a worse product.

Is BT (Eir) Sport a consideration?

Thanks Guil and assumed as much re: the speeds.

Thanks Ed - eir were first to the door but if available anyone can offer it to us.

So just went with Fibre no need for the TV package.

Off to a good start - box will be with you Friday (negatory) and engineer out on Wednesday (hopefully!).

I'm hoping we will be around 90mb which is more than enough for anything I could imagine I'd want to be doing.

    Shock Horror they told porkies!

Twice I was on - twice confirmed for today an AM slot...

No sign - can't be waiting around all day - turns out nothing was on the system - earliest date is now 26th.

    Sadly I'm not surprised TBH!

Who is doing your install OP?

My phone point and modem location are opposite sides of the house?

Will the installer install nearest the socket or where the current modem is?

    Hi The Guvnor,

I noticed your thread and I would like to look into this for you, can you PM me your account details? I can understand how frustrating these delays have been and sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

All good - it was installed today and we are getting a steady 55-56mb download and 18-19mb upload.

I'm happy with this - we are 500-600m from the exchange so that's a positive.

One very minor issue (Pamela :) ) would be boosting the wifi signal. I know we can get the boosters connect to socket but these need to be on the same circuit and where we need it, is on a different circuit.

Is there a better router than the Huawei one gets from Eir?

659b(what you have) is the best the do, chalet/shed/garage of some sort?

The pragmatic option is homeplugs and an access point in the window of the main building. Amazon.co.uk has you sorted.

Are you talking about on the same circuit as in back to your consumer unit?

I've a home plug on my downstairs-rear trip switch and the other on the upstairs-front trip.

If you are going out to a shed, with it's own consumer unit, then there probably would be trouble.

I assume(d) you need the boosters running off the same fuse in the fuse board?

If this is not the case then happy days. :)

You assumed incorrectly :). In nearly cases it will work across any and all circuits on a fuse board. You might have a super-funky board that it doesn't work on, but it's unlikely.
