Water Well Servicing

    Hi All,

We moved into a house in east Cork late last year and it is now time to start on the projects! First in line is tackling the well water supply. We got it tested before we purchased and again a few months ago, with both results fairly consistent - very hard, and not suitable for drinking. From various searches the only consistent message online seems to be to use a Clack volumetric system for softening water. On the basis of our test results it looks like we need a system for softening, bacterial control & nitrates (flat, agricultural tillage are, plus old septic tank, project for 2018 :)). There also tends to be a build op of brown staining on sinks etc. Any and all suggestions on the best course of action, and company recommendations based on our location greatly appreciated.
The 3 key take outs from the water tests are
    Total Coliforms 2 (MPN/100ml)
    Nitrate (as NO3) 62.49 mg/l
    Total Hardness 342.2 mg/l as CaCO3
