Brambles & allergies advice on cover

I'm wondering does anybody else have any allergies to brambles. It has happened twice now to me while cutting brambles with a machete. I have asthma and i'm prone to allergies in general (I always take an antihistamine before work) but this was like an all out attack, it took me awhile to get my breath back and the inhaler was no use. The cuts from the brambles on my arms had hives all around them. Anybody else have this happen to them and do you have any ways around it? Like any gear you can get so your not breathing the spores and getting cut up? I really need to be able to get in and clear them but after this I got a bit of fright. I am a bit of a newby at this so I'm always learning.

    Thanks

My advice would be to seek proper medical advice. Allergies get worse. You may need an epipen with you or to totally stay away from brambles.

Maybe, just maybe, there may be a treatment. The word 'desensitisation ' comes to mind.

Apart from seeking medical advice as mentioned above I would add that you should not work alone on this task. Would also suggest that you work on this task during winter when less spores around. Finally buy a cheap (or second hand) leather jacket to protect your arms. Also use heavy duty fencing gloves.
