Approaching this Junction to turn left, you cannot see to the other side of the yellow box.

Frequently, there is a line of traffic behind the lights at the bridge and if you drive into the yellow box intending to turn left, you are stuck in it.

What should you do in this situation?

Just enter it - there's no other option.

Interestingly you can see the name of the person that put that there on the brown sign, the 'Leixlip Spa'.

Joking aside it seems to be designed to prevent people in the left lane blocking people turning right, so I'd enter it until I could see around the corner and simply let someone across if they were looking to turn right.

You can't enter it. You can only enter it when turning right and / or the way is clear. The fact you can't see doesn't come into it. Tough call but if there is traffic, you either block traffic coming behind you, or block traffic coming against you. The lesser, and correct, of the two evils is to block traffic coming behind you.

If you position yourself dead on the center line, there should be enough room for those behind to skin past, and those coming against to keep going. Its a poorly thought out junction, all for the sake of moving those poles back 10ft and widening the road a fraction.

But you can't see if it is clear.

It's actually worse now, the yellow box has been repainted and goes further up the road towards the bridge.

But you can't see if it is clear.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but surely you can pull up before beginning your left turn, and look down the road towards the bridge? Apologies if I have mixed it up.

Btw, whats the reason for such an extended box? Surely makes sense to get traffic off the main road and pointing down towards the bridge instead of leaving it back up?

You have to drive into the box to see around the corner.

Ah, lower angle, the hedge and the longer box. Makes sense :)
