Galaxy tab 3, update android

Alright I have a tab 3 and it works fine. The device seems perfectly fine except for some incompatibility with aps designed for newer versions of android. Now thats understandable the latest version of android released on the tab 3 is 4.4. Should i download a rom of a more up to date version, and if so who do i go to?
