Hey everyone! My name is Joana Ferreira, I am from Portugal and I've noticed that in this forum there are quite a few posts about SBG Ireland. Naturally, I have heard great things about SBG and because there's not really a MMA scene in Portugal or much support, I was thinking to try my luck and move to Dublin and try to join SBG. But I can't seem to find any information about the cost of the membership online and I don't think it's wise to just move to Dublin and then realise I can't afford it. Does anyone know the cost of a membership at SBG? It would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

I don't know the prices exactly (it depends on what programme you do) but it is expensive as far as I know (great gym and facilities though).

I think you can fill out an enquiry form on their website and they'll get back to you. That or shoot them an email (I'm sure there will be contact information on the website).

I think it is in the region of €140 per month.

    That would be full membership.

I assume they do classes one or two nights a week for far less.

Price varies depending on what membership you go for (different experience levels etc) and how you pay for it.
Also options for day passes etc. SBG Tallaght around the corner might be a different price structure from Concorde, Swords, Finglas and that, I'm not sure if they all use the same one as the gyms vary in size etc.

Best option is to drop them an email or a call, I know one or two of the coaches are on here as well but email or call would be the best bet

The kids/teenagers do a separate program. It's 2 classes a seek, progressing to a 3rd. And is about half the price above.

I think if you are worried about the cost of the gym fees, and have not considered the price of Dublin rents and cost of living, then it's probably not for you.

I think if you are worried about the cost of the gym fees, and have not considered the price of Dublin rents and cost of living, then it's probably not for you.

This is a very important point. Considering the amount of time you will likely spend in the gym, your fees will probably be the cheapest part of living in Dublin.

The cost of rent, food, transport (e.g. bus and tram fees), the occasional socialising is very high compared to southern Europe. You will likely need to work when you are here to supplement your training. A number of guys have tried to make the move over but end up only staying for a couple months as savings quickly run out. Very few pro fighters, actually make a supportable living from fighting alone. (Even the ones who can get regular fights)

If you are seriously considering it , I would recommend coming and looking for a job that will give the chance to to train. One of the cool things about the Dublin SBG gyms is that they are open from 6.30am - 10pm so you can find classes to fit your schedule.

Some people train before work in the morning and some then again in the evening, or others work at night and train mid day or weekends. There is lots of flexibility there.

I was there for a consultation a few months ago . From what I remember it was 105 for 2 beginner classes a week. 140 for unlimited beginner classes and 165 for unlimited intermediate classes. The facilities are top notch and plenty of classes on everyday. Still couldn't justify paying that much myself though when theres so many other great clubs in Dublin for much much cheaper.

Might be an idea to check out the Shinobi academy in Lagos if its an option for you. Colin is an SBG OG and some of the lads pop over and train there every so often.
