Parking ticket while in car

Driving by Lucan and saw a woman getting a ticket from a traffic warden while she was sitting in the passenger seat of the car, waiting for her partner. Traffic moved on so didnt see the outcome. Is that normal procedure if someone is occupying the car?

If it's parked illegally, it's parked illegally, doesn't matter if anyone is in it.

Of course no driver and parked illegal.

Parked illegal, even if in designated parking space, just no ticket? Saw the hubby run into the pharmacy.

The Traffic Wardens in Lucan are ruthless.
Parking Angels is in operation in the village ( or was when I worked there)
    Shops provided permits to drivers.

It just seemed very unfair. They werent dumping the car there for the day. Just a quick pick up medicine or whatever and back and go. But the warden was on the car straight away. Very cruel really.

But good to know about Lucan, was not aware.

With hazards on? Irony is they ARE the hazard

If parking in a legal manner was not for the driver then maybe he's better off on the bus

This "pop into the shops" crap where they're parked on yellows or blocking footpaths etc gets no sympathy from me

Unfair is blocking 1 side of the road and causing traffic problems, especially in an area like Lucan village with narrow roads

Ah sure it's grand I'll pull in at lights on crossing at a corner or in the disabled spot or best option the bus stop so I can run a few errands.

If that 1 is put of doing it again it will hopefully stop others.

If one is so lazy as to not find a spot shop somewhere you can stop and park legal in future.

Should have sent her in and stayed with the car. A driver will generally be given a 'move on' first.

I presume he had the magic blinky lights on?

All parking should have 15minutes grace in order to pop into shops etc.

Really? Park anywhere you want for 15 minutes.

Lucan actually has 30 minutes free parking without a ticket.

Maybe he ticketed the car for no tax.

Double parking should be allowed too. Sure why not!?

Ive seen Wardens in Lucan wait for the tickets to expire on cars.
It's mayhem getting through the village so I understand why bad parking isn't tolerated.
I worked in lucan for 18 months and had a private car park.
Still have the number for gate in my phone .... but never in lucan :)

Was just going to post that myself, I live in Lucan but rarely go to the village as the parking is always bananas

Saw a traffic warden arguing with an Eir worker last week in Palmerstown over a ticket, he was parked opposite the Palmerstown house - not another car in sight/not blocking or in anyones way, the poor guy was trying to work thought it was a bit much myself

    He was on yellow lines

I like the sound of these lucan wardens, any chance other areas could rent them out?

Works for me. I left mine on the M50 this morning. No hassle.

Tbh I don't know why the woman didn't (if she could ) get out of the car and buy a ticket whilst being written up. She probably did after. You can just appeal it and say u on way to machine as car was ticketed. Once you have a ticket withina certain timeframe of fine you're grand.

The amount of misinformation in this thread is comical.

Nope. I would have a photo taken and she would be bang to rights.

    Fair play to them.
It is the sense of entitlement of that they<<Mod - remark deleted>> are only stopping for a minute? That's €40.

Everyone in a proper parking place in Lucan gets 30 minutes free parking so if you saw the hubby run into a shop then it couldn't have been a parking ticket.

    Very True.

M50.....Still the cheapest parking space in Dublin. €4.20 for two and a half hours.

Do not understand why the fines are so low.

Make it 500 EUR fine. A large percentage of illegal parking would stop overnight. Failure to pay, double the fine. Failure to pay increased fine, licence suspended for 3 months.

Are you sure they were issuing a ticket? They police the free 30 minutes by taking note of the time they first see each car. If it was a legitimate parking space, that's most likely all the parking warden was doing if the car had only just parked.

Sorry now, but I speak from experience! On one occasion I actually was at machine which was further away cause nearest one broken and on the other occasion I was outside house and watched as guy wrote up ticket. I went right out and bought ticket and the girl at desk got me to sign form, took copy of ticket and I never heard another word!

So don't accuse ppl of misforming when you know nothing about it!

Matt Murdock what is your beef? There's nobody that can say they haven't pulled up and chanced their arm hoping the warden has just been there.

Yeah I'm sure, that's why i found the whole thing bizarre. Very odd situation.
