The Cannondale is better spec when it comes to the groupset/brakes/forks, but loses out on the "nice" touches like handlebars, seatposts, etc. as it's mostly own-brand offerings rather than third-party names like Syncros.

TBH, if you can get test rides, that'll be a good indicator of which you find more comfortable and responsive to your needs.

I got an orbea in Staggs on BTW last march and I love it! It was a MX10, guys down there are good to deal with.

    I'm gonna go for this:

    http://www.halfords.ie/cycling/bikes/mountain-bikes/voodoo-bizango-29er-mountain-bike

but it's only available in a 16", two questions:

    1. I'm about 5' 11" so is this too small? I tried it in store and it felt OK (seat wasn't up too high and i wasn't bent over).

    2. I've heard some bad things about Halfords, is it worth the risk for the bike given that it has won so many awards?

It is almost definitely too small!

I'm 6ft 3 and small is most definitely too small. It may feel "alright", but twenty minutes in the saddle and you'll be singing a different tune. Hell, even medium is verging on the smaller side of what will fit you and you will most definitely be towering over the bike when on the pedals.
