Hi all. Having a low-key relaxed wedding in November, with a buffet reception. The only problem is we just found out the function room we are using can't provide tableware or cutlery for 120 people, nor space to wash dishes if we brought our own. We're on the lookout for really good quality disposable dishes, plastic rather than paper, and really sturdy. Does anyone know where i might find any? Wary of buying any online as i won't know what they're like til i get them. Eco-friendly would be preferable as long as they're sturdy. Living in Dublin

I'd say you could find a company who will provide no disposable ones and take them away once you're finished. Probably cheaper than buying heavy plastic versions of them all too. You'll need glasses (wine and regular) too.

I looked at a few websites for hiring and they're out of my budget range unfortunately. The venue can provide glasses, luckily, it's attached to a pub. The caterer is also providing proper soup bowls with the food but only offers paper plates, which would be messy for a buffet i think

I know you say you dont like online but Little Star Parties are very good.. Have used them several times, a lot of the stuff they supply is like what woodies have in stock. So you could always check them out in Woodies first or take a trip to Leitrim to their depot I am sure they would not mind letting you see before you buy..

After that maybe you could chance approaching Dunnes Stores and asking them about their Summer camping stock. They had some nice sturdy cutlery and plates... Or a cash and carry will also stock them

It might even be cheaper to buy loads in Ikea- they may not be plastic but this plate is tempered glass at 50c a pop (€60 total for plates for everyone). Not bad at all- I know you can't wash them at the location (seems odd btw but ok) but nothing stopping you bringing them home and washing them or donating them. You could even just throw them all in a box afterwards and bring them to the nearest recycling depot without washing.

We also have bought a 24 piece cutlery set (metal) for something like €1.50 a go but I don't see anything that cheap on the website at the moment.

    Have you thought about Hiring....

Was at a wedding and all the glasses, crockery etc were hired in from Caterhire.

No need to wash up, you just stick em back in the racks.
