    My Specs
    Corsair 600T |
    i7 3770K |
    ASUS Maximus Formula V|
    Corsair H100i |
    16GB Corsair Vengance 1600MHz |
    Gigabyte 7970 GHZ Windforce |
    Corsair HX850 | 1TB Barracud 7200RPM |
    2TB Barracuda 7200RPM |
    256GB Samsung Pro SSD |
    Asus 27" asus PB278Q + 1 X23 HP |
    Win10 |
    Corsair M65 |
    Corsair Strafe RGB |
    Hyper X Cloud II

Just feel like my card is struggling a bit lately especially at the res I'm using.

I'm kind of caught between a 970 at around €200 or go bigger for a 1070 at €450 ish

Is there a real world difference big enough to justify the 1070?

I play the likes of battlefield, star citizen etc, so fairly GPU intensive games.

I plan on selling the 7970 to off set the cost

Huge difference in performance, particularly at 1440p - the 1070 outperforms the old 980 Ti / Titan X!

    There's a KFA2 model for €430.

    I'm in the same boat. I recently bought a XL2730Z (TN panel, 144Hz, 1440p Freesync). I currently have a 970.

To make the most out of the monitor, its either using the Motion Blur Reduction and a 1070 or pick up a R9 Fury for around €360 (tax and shipping included) and benefit from Freesync.

Using the 7970, what kinda of settings do you use in your games at that resolution?

In Bf4 I use high to ultra, I havent tracked my FPS in a long time but I'd say I get dips of at least 40.

Star Citizen changes so much from build to build its hard to say

Me personally I'd go with the 1070. Even at 450 it's good value considering its power/ performance vs last years offering.

It's definitely the sweet spot for 1440p.

Obviously if you rocking freesync maybe go with amd. I've no personal experience with freesync using gsync myself.

For 1440p sweet spot right now is 1070. Prices still all over the place, but if you cam get one of those with decent cooler for less then 450eu, then go for it. 1440p gaming sorted.

Fury X at €400 would be good for Freesync.

Ha I was just checking myself.

The 1070 is twice as powerful as a 970 has the 8 gigs of ram. And is early in its driver cycle. That be my call for star citizen alone.

    Thanks for all the replies.
