cant remember if there is a heater plug on a 674 but if there is just heat it for 25...30 seconds then try it ...i remember that a 674 was hard started...to bleed the brakes under the bonnet at the steering wheel you will see three small flexie pipes clamp a vice grip i think on the shortest pipe... there are two bleed screws on top of rear axle accessed from behind the tractor ..open screws and put a bleed pipes on each bleed screw ...put pipes into filler hole on top of back axle (directly up from top link) start the tractor and leave running for 10 to 15 mins should be ok then close bleed screws..unclamp ..vicegrip ..brakes should be firm.. type of back axle oil is very important for not allowing air into brakes..

No heater plug from factory, I think I remember hearing that some ih's had an ether shot as a factory option for cold starting but couldn't be sure.
Firstly the stop plunger has to be pulled out about half way to the start position almost like a choke, then depress the clutch fully, set the throttle to nearly halfway and then swing her on the key. when it starts push the stop plunger in fully to the run position and reduce the revs down to normal idle.
Many ih's (ours included) have had block heaters fitted over the years to help with cold starting much better/safer than ether.
Follow the proper starting procedure and it should help a lot, many people don't and this makes the tractor harder started.
