Roses thorns and dogs

We're looking to put a few rose bushes into the garden soon but my husband is a bit concerned about our dog and the thorns.

Currently we have a very bushy garden and the dog, (a lab) wanders around between them. We're going to pull out most os the bushes and lay grass with a small area for rose buses. If the dog were to do the same around rose bushes are the thorns going to be a problem?

As a kid we had a Shar Pei and roses and there was no problem but I just wanted to address my husband's concern.

I never had a problem with our dogs and roses. Then again they knew not to walk in the flower or shrub beds.

I dont think it wil, be a problem for the dog, if it gets too close it will learn fast that thorns (roses) are no go area
