Length of college summer holidays

I hate having 4 months summer holidays, absolutely hate it. I miss college so much. My brothers are going back to school on Monday and I'm so jealous, while I have to wait 3 more weeks. I do computer science, and I have taught myself alot of additional code, so I'm happy with that, but I miss lecturers, labs, assignments and projects. I went to dance in June and the 2/3 weeks either side for that were grand, but since mud July I have been going mad. There is only so much meeting up with mates you can do, before you need something else, it doesn't help that I couldn't get a job.

I could gav mm my degree done, in 3 years not 4. Who needs 4 months off a year? No one. It's stupid. 2-3 weeks us enough time off.

When you finish working and start working you'll be grateful if the holidays. As you'll only have 21 days off. Next year get your sh1t together early and enjoy the break , go travelling , volunteering etc

Youth is wasted on the young.

So you couldn't get a job, did you try volunteering anywhere? Did you offer your services free to gain experience? Start planning now what you want to do next year and make it happen.

God how I would love 4 months off like I used to in college.

Have you no summer job? I was working 6 days a week starting the day after my last exam every summer when I was in college. It was brilliant having 4 months to earn a nice bit of money and not be a broke student for the year when college came back. Absolute madness not wanting as much time off as possible.

Are you going in to second year? As others have said, next year plan. Either go away for the summer on the J1 and work in America, my brother went to a summer camp and taught kids programming. He loved it. Or look up software companies in your area and enquire about a summer job. You might be lucky and they might pay you, or if not you could volunteer with them just to get "real world" experience.

It's unlikely somebody is going to hand you anything. You need to look into making things happen for yourself. And you need to start doing that long before April of next year.

Edit: And there was me telling you nobody would hand you anything...! Here's just one link I found

I'm sure there are loads of others.

Did I see you mentioning elsewhere on boards that your father is involved in some way with the construction industry? Could you not ask him for some sort of summer job with them?
