    Hi,

Are any others taking sleeping pills everyday just to function. To get just a bit of sleep to get through each day

Yep. Valerian root is just as much a part of my diet as spuds these days

I find half a bottle whiskey does the job better than any sleeping tablets...

It certainly helps and if I get to sleep, its usually for a good while and no drowsiness or headaches the next day.

B2W; Not sure if this thread will still be here, later in my day? If not, I'll follow it to where ever it might be sent. Genuinely interested.

Sleep and Tablets? I just ran my fingers over my Mogadon supply (Prescribed) Tempting! But, it's only 03:00 and another pint seems more 'normal'.

Dunno. I'd rather know where this thread is heading before I invest more in it.

    Just curious.

I take the occasional Stilnoct (prescribed by my doctor for insomnia). Not every night though, because I don't want to become immune to its effects. It doesn't give me any 'hangover' or drowsiness the next day, but I always make sure I'm in bed before I take a tablet because it has been known to make me hallucinate.

Anyway, I better go. There are some carol singers at the door. Carol singers in February - whatever next?

I take them when I need them but try my best not to cause I don't want to rely on them for the rest of my life.

No I think I have a slight aversion to taking pills. I rarely take any pills even for a headache. I don't have too much trouble sleeping but the odd time I'll wake at night and feel like I'm ready to get up but I just try to get back to sleep.

Did you ever try to use any ASMR videos on youtube OP? Those videos are designed to relax people and put them to sleep. It seems to work for some and has a fairly big following. I've watched them a few times if I couldn't fall asleep and it only took a few minutes but then I woke myself up by dropping my phone on my face :)

Nope. Have a supply of zopiclone as an emergency supply, as I went through a phase of not sleeping at all during a really stressful period of my life. Thankfully never got into the habit of taking them every night. I would take them when I REALLY needed them (maybe one every 4/5 days) and a good nights sleep then would keep me ticking over for a few more nights.

My dr prescribed me altogether about 4 months supply over a 3 year period and after the second supply, he told me I had to attend Councelling or he couldn't supply any more for me. Where are you getting yours? Because your dr shouldn't be prescribing you enough to function every single day on.

Maybe go back and have a chat with the dr, with a view to getting yourself off those pills. No good will come of it anyway, and you'll always have that hangover effect after a sleeping pill sleep.

Absolutely HATED zolpidem. Not very effective, made me feel like I was three feet out of body and two seconds behind, and left a hangover.

But magnesium did the job with no problems whatsoever, and never had to buy a third bottle. Won't work for everyone but there are a few things you can try.

Nope, as might be obvious from some of my posts here, I'm a shocking sleeper, usually wake at 4 or 5 and that's that. Does mean I get to work early though. But hate the thought if becoming reliant on sleeping tablets. Tried Stilnoct a couple of times, didn't change a thing.

I didn't know they were so common.

I never took them but I'm interested on why so many people do and how does it effect them

Mod: OP, it sounds like you should probably discuss this with a medical professional.
