job interview ,,just booked holiday

    Should you tell at interview or not ,,my OH has interview shortly ,but we just booked and paid for short holiday ,should he tell this at interview,

    I think it's better to be upfront to avoid an awkward situation should you be hired.

    I told them in my last interview and they said if I was the right candidate that they would find a way to fit my holidays in. I got the job in the end. Most places would be fairly acommodating if they thought you were right for the job I would imagine.

    Thanks ,this is what i thought he should do,as i think he has good chance of this job i didnt want him to start the wrong way.

    I wouldn't bring it up at interview unless they ask you the question "have you any holidays planned". And even then be careful.

    There is no benefit to you in mentioning a holiday at the interview. They might simply say "that's fine" and a few days later "we decided to go with another candidate" (without mentioning they went with the candidate who didn't have any holidays booked).

    Alternatively, if you wait til job offer stage you're in a stonger position and they'll be more likely to accommodate you.

    Not at interview, unless they ask.

    If a job offer is made, that's the time to discuss the start-date, which could be either tomorrow (or whatever) but out for a week/fortnight again soon, or after the holiday is over.

    Unless they directly ask you, do not mention anything about holidays during interview stage. If you get a job offer, you can bring it up then.

    If you get to second round interview I would say to say it at the end, at the part where they ask if you have any questions.
    Its usually good and polite to say, and in all honesty a good company wont let it dis-way them.

    IF a company asks you what your holiday plans are during the interview for the next 4-8 weeks, in my experience, it means they are thinking of hiring you. A good interviewer who knows their stuff and asks you this has already made up their mind on you and knowing this will allow a start date plan.

    If its a first round and no -one asks, dont bother telling !!!!

    When is the holiday? The only time I'd bring it up if not specifically asked, is if it could be at the same time as another round of interviews.

    To me, bringing up that you have holidays booked in is presenting the interviewer with a problem straight away. You're already asking for favours (i.e. time off) and you haven't even gotten a job yet.

    If you get a job offer, and it hasn't come up, I'd broach the topic then. They're unlikely to change their mind after the job offer is made. You don't want to give them reasons to dislike you in the interview stage.

    I've found most employers to be fine with pre booked holidays tbh. The company i work for now, asked me four weeks ago during the first interview if I had any booked. I said I had a long weekend booked in September, right around their busy season. Wasn't a problem, the time off was approved and job offered.
