    Hi all,

Not farming myself, but my current work is slowly slipping to nothing and I need to get at something to subsidise it.

I have been looking in to doing the pesticide coures and getting in to quad weed wiping/licking.

Thinking initially I would just hire gear to test the market.

What do you think? Is it something farmers or small holders would use?
I have seen some advertising on donedeal but can find no one doing it in my area.
I have asked a few farmer neighbours what they think and get varied response, from "you'd be flat out" to "couldn't see a need".

How would one price it? One lad suggested €40 per hour with customer providing the chemicals.

    Thanks

Im in south leitrim and there is a market for it, the run of the mill is about a tenner an acre so run with that and judge how much your getting done in an hour...i heavy rushes or steep ground charge by the hour.

I would advise to provide the serivce of you doing it because most lads are busy at silage or slurry or reseedi g when its dry and weed licking is left on long finger also no one will mind a hired machine.

Just my two cents......if i was you i would be nagoiable on the tenner an hour if you got a lot of work off the one man

Thats great thanks. It certainly looks like lads are too busy to get at it alright.. The place is over run with rushes and ragwort!

Where are you based? Its hard to find somebody to lick rushes. But I would be very reluctant to pay a begginer €40 euro an hour and supply him with the chemicals. I have been waiting for a guy here for months. Think it have to wait till early spring now

Yeah, I realise I would need to be fairly experienced to get that.
I'm in North mayo. Ballina area.

If you get set up and are willing to travel to Westport. I have plenty of acres for you to practice on. Soft bumpy rushy ground
