No Water in Bathrooms

    Hi all,

I have no water in any of my bathrooms as the mo. It only seems to be affecting the sink and shower, the toilets seem to be refilling.

Hot water gone in kitchen as well but cold mains is working fine.

I had the capacitor in the pump replaced in Feb '15 and it looks to be the same prob judging by the noise off it. Anybody know why a capacitor would be giving up so soon?

You can get the odd bogey capacitor that goes fairly quick for no good reason. Just have to change it again.
***Otherwise it may be one of the strainers having fallen down onto the impeller and jammed it or a seized motor.

Cheers for the reply. Do u know if it's a big job opening up one of these bad boys? It's an Ecopress pump

Was speaking with another plumber and he reckons the whole pump needs to be replaced as they were originally undersized for the apartment. It's a 100m2 three bed, all ensuite. I would imagine the Ecopress should be able to handle an apt of that size so not sure what to do now...

U could change the capacitor again if that's what is wrong with pump. Capacitors degrade over time even without use so the new one you put in a year ago could have been sitting on a shelf for years before it was sold !

That's worrying. Maybe they should start putting use-by dates on them.

It nothing to worry about. They usually outlast most equipment.

So it was a bad capacitor again?

How old is the pump and how many capacitors has it had?

Place was build around the 2006 mark I believe. I moved in summer 2014 so I don't know the history before then.

The capacitor was replaced in Feb 15 and it was just replaced again yesterday. Everything working fine again... for now...
