Can't find too much information on BMW Dealers own sites.

How old can a car be, to be considered for this premuim selection? Im guessing its 5 yrs.

Is there a milage limit before a car is excluded?
    Again i'm guessing 100,000 miles.
i.e above this the car is ineligible.

Are cars fully serviced prior to sale or is it as it used to be if car was serviced recently and more than a certian amount of lights were left the car would not be serviced. (Service lights as per old e39)

I presume car has to be seviced in those two years in a BMW Garage. How premium is the bill?.

Is mileage really unlimited in those two years?

And finally I presume a chain and turbo would be included on warranty?

From googling the premium asking price seems to be 4000-7000 euro more than private. Is there much haggling on prices with dealers on straight deals?

Looking at a 2011 520d and i well aware of potiential issues. So the premium will give peace of mind for two yrs.

    Tks in advance.

I traded my 2011 520d with 140,000km on it back in March for a 141 model. My old car was sold on again with the 2 year Premium Select warranty. Up to 150,000 km/5 years is the general limit on which the car qualifies to be sold on again with the 2 year warranty. There are exceptions though, I've seen slightly older cars with very low mileage in mint condition being offered with the 2 year warranty but compared to similar cars being sold elsewhere they tend to be more expensive to buy but you're never going to get a comprehensive 2 year warranty for free. You would need to check with a dealer if there is a mileage cap for the duration of the warranty especially if the mileage is above average but for the best of knowledge there is none.

Both cars I bought with the warranty were serviced at the time of buying them, new tyres (premium brands) fitted where needed, brake pads, etc. Again this stuff is not done for free, it's included in the price you pay for the car.

The car doesn't have to be serviced by a BMW dealer but it's like any argument for indy v main dealer servicing, when it comes to warranty claims you need to provide proof that the car was serviced at the correct interval and correct parts were used as per manufacturer's specifications. Can be easier too with a goodwill claim if the dealer who has serviced your car pushes the manufacturer after your warranty has expired. It's really a bit of a balancing act, I get straightforward things like oil services, etc done by the main dealer as there is not a huge difference in prices between my main dealer and the specialists near me. It also keeps the service history up to date. However for things like brake fluid, pads, discs etc it is cheaper to get those things done by a specialists.

As for what's covered, in my experience it's pretty comprehensive. So far I've had a LED reversing bulb, air conditioning leaking pipe and faulty idrive controller unit replaced. The idrive controller unit alone would have cost me over a grand if I had to replace it myself.

Cars can be up to 6 years old with less than 100k miles.
It doesn't have to be serviced at the dealer.
I'm on my third premium selection car with no issues.
As above the warranty covers everything.

Bazz. Did they offer you a good trade in on the 2011? Not looking for a price just to know if you were relatively happy with the price given.

Or like all Dealers did they try to put down your trade in and make out the one you were buying woth the premium. Just trying to see if i went for a 2012 now where its value would be at the end of the 24 months?

I love to simplify life and put it into formulas...

    Take a today dealer's price of 2010.

Knock 10% - that's the trade-in cousin (that's why in the cash deals you can get that ~10% off)
Take further €500 away - that's to bring the trade-in to showroom standard.
Another €1000 for warranty cousin. That might be more if the car/model is known to have issues or less if the car is still covered by mfr warranty.
Another 10% is the money the dealer is making (that is my wild guess honestly)...

That's when you're dealing with cars in the same brand.

So if o 2010 5-er is listed at €23,950 now, it did cost the dealer approximately €18000.

Now, if you are trading in a 2010 (or 2012 in two years time) and getting something newer - let's say listed at €30000, get the 10% trade-in cousin from the newer car, add to the €18000 - you end up with €21000 - that's the trade-in price the dealer will offer you.

I'm never happy having to spend that sort of money. However they were the cheapest after some hard fighting on the price, of all the dealers I went to. Plus the car they had was the higher spec of any I seen elsewhere. I bought the 2011 car from them 2 years previously too so that probably helped.

Interestingly the dealer nearest me was one of the more expensive on a lesser speced car despite the car I was trading being serviced by them. Had them do some warranty work for me recently and got a few looks alright from the showroom when I dropped the newer car in to them. :)
