I have an oak hall table and want to paint it. I have some regular dulux easy care paint we used in a bedroom. Can I use it to paint the wood or do I have to use specific paint?

That paint is for interior walls only. It will flake off if you use it.

You'll need specific paint. Preferably an oil based undercoat then a topcoat (either oil based or water based) Satinwood or Gloss.

If you use a decent primer (bin), and a clear varnish over the dulux, it should be fine. Might not get quite as good a finish as with a chalk paint or satinwood, the emulsion would be a bit thicker. Although you can use a small roller. I painted a chair with dulux easycare recently, and it's grand!
