I needed some batteries and these seem like a bargain compared to the Amazon.co.uk prices:

    Energizer Eco AAA

There's also a lot of buy one get one free offers on batteries at the moment (e.g. get the above AAA batteries free with purchase of AA batteries):

Sweet, they are great batteries, can't compare them to the rubbish zinc batteries in the discount shops.

Great deal, always like to stock up on AAA's for my insulin pump!

Just get rechargable ones, they're around a tenner for 4 decent capacity AA, much better bargain in the long run!

    Correct. These, for example-

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-BK-3MCCE-4BE-Eneloop-Rechargeable/dp/B00IWS52MI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1472147624&sr=8-3&keywords=eneloop+aa .

They have a low self discharge rate compared to cheaper rechargeables so they're suitable to replace standard AAs in most situations.

OK, you need to buy a reasonable quality charger but after the initial investment, you'll save quite a bit over time.

Never use rechargeable batteries for critical applications like smoke detectors, alarms or insulin pumps. When they run out of charge, it happens very fast - one minute power, next minute no power.

Offer "not available" according to Argos in Carlow.

Came home and tried online and got the same message even before I selected a store.

    Or get some enelopes instead

Are the Eco Advanced batteries rechargeable ?
On the Argos site it says they "come pre-charged". but quick google suggest they aren't

Tesco has some good rechargeables reduced to about a fiver.

Cheap batteries are like cheap women, great at the start but their not worth it in the long run.

No they are not rechargeable, they are made from recycled materials.

I'd have thought these a far better deal. AAA available also. Always seems to be stock at the tills.

But aren't alkaline batteries notorious for leaking, compared to zinc ones ???

dealz is cheap for batteries, though probably not the best. I use the AAA & AA in torches and remotes and they do the job. It is 1.50 for 2 of either AA or AAA

they have kodak 9V (smoke alarm size) 2 for 1.50
    http://www.dealz.ie/kodak-9v-zinc-batteries-2-pack

or a single kodak 9V longer life for 1.50
    http://www.dealz.ie/kodak-9v-alkaline-batteries-1-pack

    10 sony AAA for 1.50
    http://www.dealz.ie/sony-aaa-zinc-batteries-8-2-free

Had to use those as people were nicking my decent rechargeables from remotes around the house

I've found that the Kodak and Sony batteries sold by Dealz are terrible. Yeah, you get a lot of batteries for €1.50 but if they are used for anything that draws a lot, they die quite quickly. Dealz also do a brand called Fusiomax Endurance. They only do AA and AAA sizes but they last so much longer than the others (only 4 in the pack).

Strangely enough, the Dealz site doesn't show them....only the rechargeable ones.

Also, the Fusiomax ones are highly recommended by my youtube guru bigclivedotcom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-I4liMndTsI
