Hey guys, ( Apologies if this is the wrong section to post this in )

I've an interview tomorrow with College of Commerce for "adult leaving certificate" I was hoping someone else may have done this before and could give me an idea of what to expect in regards to the interview, as well as some potential help with subject choices.

The only subjects offered at higher level are Geography, Business, Biology, Design & Communication Graphics and Art, I've little to no knowledge of what the leaving cert is like these days and I'm unsure whether people find these subjects manageable to get done well in the space of a year.

I would ideally like to do a few higher level subjects providing I can do well in them, if any of you have any recommendations in regards to what subjects are generally easier to score higher in I'd quite like to hear them.

I've read on a few other threads here that Economics is a good subject to pick up for higher level but I'd have to do that outside of "school" hours.

The full list of subjects available to me are

    Gaeilge
    Geography
    Accounting
    Business
    Biology
    Art
    History
    French
    Design & Communications Graphics
    Mathematics
    English

I was leaning towards Maths, Accounting, Business, Biology, English.

Outside of that I'm stumped and I'm very open to suggestions.

    Thanks in advance

Good choice of subjects, I see that five is the minimum amount of subjects you can do.

The interview, from what I've heard, will just be asking you about why you want to do this. Tell them all about how you want further yourself and show that you're not wasting their time.

I'm in leaving cert myself and I can say that the courses are all manageable so long as you put in the work yourself.

Given that most of those subjects are ordinary level, you won't be forced to do certain subjects that will never be counted and that you're more well motivated environment in general, I am sure you'll get the courses done in time.

I'd recommend doing the as many higher level subjects as you can but ultimately it's down to you.

    Good luck with your interview!

As Bannana said, they will mostly be interested in your commitment and determination. Expect them to probe into your reasons for choosing to do this.

    G'luck! ;)

I'm unsure if you'll be too late but it was quite straight forward, the interview was very casual and relaxed and they actually say on their form that everyone who applied last year got into the course, I didn't have to choose subjects like I had initially thought.

Thanks for the replies by the way!

The class didn't seem full Michelle but I've no idea what kind of numbers they generally look for.

I got an email from them today to go for interview next week :) .. During your interview did they mention at what stage subjects are picked?
