HSE car indemnity

I am an NCHD and was asked by HSE line manager to have my car insurance indemnified to HSE for using my personal car for work. This resulted in a higher car insurance premium. Am I eligible to claim this additional insurance cost?

You need to discuss this with the IMO, sounds very very suspect to me!

This is fairly standard if it's for home visits but not for patient transport. PHNs/GP trainees do it regularly. Did it last year myself for an extra €13, my insurance company absorbed the cost as it was below €20 (AIG, may not be all companies).

HSE will refund any additional cost.

    Thanks for the info.
I do home visit as well only. Never took patient with myself. But Kennco charged 200€ extra for a year of indemnity.

Do you think if I get letter from Kennco if this additional cost they would reimburse me?

I've had my car indemnified for the same (I.e home visits, no patient transport) for the both the HSE and another employer, and it hasn't affected my premium, nor any of the other people I work with.
You could probably argue that with the insurance company, as it's not an extra risk than normal driving.

Seems like a lot!! Might be worth clarifying that the insurance company understands your situation. The HSE really should be refunding any extra cost to you, that was the case with the admin officer I dealt with.

The public sector generally does reimburse the difference in cost so I can't see it being any different with the HSE.
