Last week I received an email from The Annebrook Hotel through Weddingdates.ie

We are delighted to announce that we have once again been shortlisted for an award for wedding venue of the year with weddingdates.ie!

We so desperately want to win again this year as a reward for all the hard work, dedication and commitment we put in to all our weddings here at the Annebrook, but in order to win we need as many positive reviews as possible. So if you, like us think we deserve to win, you can make this happen by filling in a quick 5 star review at the below link:

After looking at all the reviews they are all 5 Star. I submitted a 3 star review and it was not displayed. This got me thinking, are most of these fake reviews. Possibly some are real but seriously not everyone could be that happy.

I got married there late last year and the wedding planner made it really stressful........She left before we got married then another girl took over that showed her true colours before the wedding and wasn't even there on the day of our wedding.

A simple request for purple mood lighting was turned down because the manager was old school and preferred bright lights light Supermacs.

I know for a fact lots of other couples had disagreements and arguments with the wedding planner / planners etc. So why are all the couples giving 5 stars. Are these fake or real reviews?

    Thoughts please?

I would contact the website that run the competition and inform them, I'm skeptical myself of these things and am really curious to see how serious they take this issue.

You should probably contact the hotel itself as well and inform them of the "glitch".

All of those wedding sites, and there are many, are commercial entities who make money from their advertisers. It is not in their interest to allow negative reviews of one of the businesses that advertise with it (assuming the annebrook do). Same for their forums, anything negative of an advertiser gets deleted. In one way I dont blame them, its how they make their money, why bite the hand that feeds it.

As for that sites ratings, I just went on there, all the hotels have 5 stars (or hearts as it is). Pinch of salt, you could have your wedding meal in macdonalds, enjoy it, give it 5 love hearts on there and its sitting beside a true 5 star hotel with 5 love hearts on that site.

The commercial sites are good for finding out about places but as for real reviews, go elsewhere. Like here. :)

Oh that is shamefull of them and sorry to hear you had a bit of trouble on your day.. I must say if I ever see a review for a place that is all 5 stars or top rating I would be questioning them. No one is ever happy.. I have posted a few reviews and noticed the ones who are really interested in the reviews will reply and ans any queries as such or ask why you were not happy. The ones who don't really care just delete bad reviews and leave the goods ones up..

Some of the wedding sites are very bad, I went on a left a review of the so called wedding planner we had, who did not even know there were two sides to a tablecloth.. The website took it down and when I contacted them they bluffed it off.
