    Quick question
I levelled about a half acre meadow. It is too soft to drive on so I sowed grass seed and fertiliser by hand. I got a ton of ground lime yesterday would it be ok to shake it out on top of the grass seed? Or should I wait till the seed is up.

Spread asap. Its purpose is to neutralise the ph in the soil. Germinating seeds do not like an acidic soil with alot of decaying matter.
Ideally it should be incorporated into the soil pre sowing but any way it's applied is better than not applying.

That's grand I was just worried it might damage the seed.
Thanks for the quick reply so it out with the bucket for me then

No problem, don't spare the fertilizer either!

    Just put 150kg of 10 10 20 on it.
Bag and a half of heavy ground seed. Only the 1500kg of lime left might wait a day to let top dry out.
There is about .75 of an acre in it.
    Up to nature after that

Put put some granlime. A 50kg bag versus a ton of ground. I know which one I would be putting into the bucket

would second this and the above post to put it out asap dry or not

cover the ground lime for another time and shake out the bag of granlime as soon as

What do you mean by levelled the meadow?

The end of my house site so it was a dumping ground for any soil, fill and stones left over. I cleaned drain out around it last year so was just cleaning it up to sow out.
I might get that gran lime then I know once the grass grows I'll be fit to travel on it.
    Thanks for all replies
