Just playing this at the moment, it looks a beautiful game but unfortunately for and others who have a SLI system, its pretty ****ed with poor FPS

    2x 980 Ti
    i7-4790K overclocked to 4.4
    16GB Ram
    Windows 10
    Res: 3440 x 1440 @ 100Hz

Tempted just to wait till they patch the game or Nvidia fix their drivers

Ultra 60 fps with 290x2 MSAA off 1080 running perfectly.

Standing just outside Jensens apartment at the start, staring at a corner, I'm getting 38 fps on 2x GTX 1080s....

Ah, it wouldn't be a AAA release without a ton of performance issues, and a series of Mixed reviews on Steam!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,761 ✭✭✭✭degrassinoel

runs great on my three year old gtx 780 xD

the only problems i had was checking the stash in Jensen's apartment, it froze - though i could access the menu to reload - and the transition from one area to another (although the trainride was a good idea) it felt like i was on the dart going from bray to shankill - in terms of time, rather than beautiful scenery.

Stuttered a bit when i got to a new location but that was it. Other than those pretty small irks it runs great and it looks a heap better than human revolution did.

I've even gotten used to Jensen's batman voice - thanks in part to watching the expanse and a few interviews with the actor himself - that's his normal voice! Can ye believe that? haha! :D

    what resolution! 4k?
It can't be making much use of the second 1080 there.

I haven't had a chance to play it yet but will be doing so with a single GTX 1080 @ 1440p

Human Revolution was the same really, it definitely favoured AMD cards as well, hopefully patches/driver improvements will squeeze more out of it.

    I have:
    Slightly older i7.
    16GB RAM.
    SSD.
    Geforce 1070.
    144hz monitor on 1920x1080.
Everything set to Ultra with VSync off.

And I get 60-100 fps everywhere. Hurray!

The good news is that those of you with poor performance will probably get patched soon enough.

Unfortunately I am one of those people getting outrageously bad mouse behaviour. Insanely fast in-game, insanely slow in menus. I jury rigged a solution where I bound two keys on my mouse to change to high and low sensitivity profiles, and I change between them every time a menu comes up (which includes augs, hacking, inventory, etc). It works, but it's obscenely irritating. Not sure I can keep playing until it's fixed.

Mouse acceleration is used in this game

Its just bonkers why devs use it and there's no option to disable it in the game menu.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,371 ✭✭✭✭Zillah

This is waaay beyond mouse acceleration, though. The mouse is literally about twenty times faster in-game than in menus. There is nothing within a million miles of a happy compromise.

In 2560x1440, nothing outrageous. Maybe the Dx12 patch will help in a few weeks, or that some fixes can appear quickly.

Interesting new patch out of it now 77mb in size

(24-08-2016) PC Patch notes for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Patch build 524.7
We have just released the first PC patch for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, v1.0 build 524.7. This patch focusses on critical issues users ran into immediately following release.

This patch will be applied by Steam automatically when you next start the game. If your game does not update, please restart the Steam client or manually look for updates in the Windows Store.

The following fixes are in this patch:
    • Fixed crashes caused by third-party programs interfering with the game.
    • Fixed crash that occurred after viewing the intro videos.
    • Fixed issue that could cause a crash at the end of the Prague intro scene.
    • Fixed mouse invert setting not being displayed correctly in the options menu.

    Note about performance
We are seeing people reporting performance issues when playing the game on Very High/Ultra settings with MSAA set to 2x, 4x, or 8x. We would like to emphasize again that these options are very demanding.
We recommend everyone that is running at recommended spec or higher to start with the High Preset and MSAA turned off, and then tweak the options to optimize your experience.

While we expect this patch to be an improvement for everyone, if you do have trouble with this patch and prefer to stay on the old version we have made a Beta available on Steam, v1.0_build 524.6, that can be used to switch back to the previous version.

We will keep monitoring for feedback and will release further patches as it seems required. We always welcome your feedback!

Started this last night and enjoying it so far. Do people recommend using a controller or M/K? Tried using a M/K initially but the sensitivity was crazy and couldn't reduce it down enough to make it playable. Any trick to doing this?

I've seen a comment that dropping the mouse sensitivity to 0 will disable the acceleration, though I haven't tried it myself yet.

Well, I've made a most curious discovery related to the performance issues I saw. After some issues with what I believed was a recent BIOS update, I had reverted to an older one that worked fine previously. It seems this prompted the (older) BIOS to reckon my primary GTX 1080 should only have 4 PCI-E lanes, not the usual 16. Updated the BIOS, and it's back to 16 lanes, and the performance has doubled, now at 100 FPS in outdoor areas. So this game is very sensitive to PCI-E bandwidth it appears.

  • Moderators Posts: 5,580 ✭✭✭Azza

Enjoying it so far. Just taking my time wandering around Prague taking in the sites.

Playing with an i5 3570 @ 4.2Ghz and an overclocked GTX 970 I'm finding it running pretty well.

Have set everything to high or on in the options tabbed and turned on all graphically features bar MSAA and getting a pretty constant 60FPS in game at 1080p. Encountered a drop to the low 40's during the train station arrival scene but since there was no game play it didn't matter. Also got a drop leaving the subway into the second part of Prague, but once away from the entrance I was getting a constant 60FPS again.

I know I'm two settings down from the highest settings but the game still looks good. Have played about 5 hours and no crashes yet. Did get a freeze when checking the locker in Jensen's apartment though which required me to kill it via task manager but after that its been smooth sailing.

So the pre order DLC is consumable per save. Lost upon use. Somehow they managed to make pre order DLC even worse.

    Day 1 DLC ?

Reading the steam reviews. Really, you can only use it once?

Edit - found this: "At launch, DLC could only be redeemed once, to one save file. This means if you started a new game, you couldn't use it again. This included the preorder DLC. Say you did a pacifist run, and then wanted to start a genocide run. Remember that DLC you got? Cant redeem it on the new save file."

It's running smoothly for me, but it's missing items in the environment like boxes and crates and stuff like that. So there's loads of debris just floating in the air.

Prague is a delightful treat for exploring, i've played 20 hours and only now only starting the actual next mission because I've been exploring all of Prague's nooks and crannies, there is so much more to unravel in this city hub compared to the previous games.

I did however, miss out on some things due to exploring too much. I never got a chance to talk to Otar for the neuroplasticity thing because I ended up exploring the sewers and and stealing it without knowing it was going to be a plot point with interactions.

In terms of performance, everything on Ultra at 1440P for me with MSAA off, shadows on High and Volumetric Lighting to "On" and I get constant 60FPS with a I7-4790k & GTX 980TI. It only drops FPS during conversation scenes.

Yeah I stumbled into some restricted area, got attacked, and before I knew it I was annihilating an
underground casino full of gangsters, and then I found the plasticity-majiger in a safe.
Koller told me to wait so I hope I haven't wasted it.

Slight spoiler about the plasticity thing:
There's an achievement for obtaining it before you get the quest to do so, so I don't believe you'll miss out on anything.

Is that not the case for about 3/4 of new AAA releases though? I had Crossfire for ages, never again. It never worked on a new game and by the time it ever got fixed, I'd usually lost interest.

We have just released another PC patch for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, v1.2 build 524.15. This patch focusses on critical issues that were reported by users during the week after release.

This patch will be applied by Steam automatically when you next start the game. If your game does not update, please restart the Steam client.

The following fixes are in this patch:
    • Fixed a crash during the subway loading scene.
    • Fixed issue with loading a saved game while in cover and pressing [SPACE], causing Jensen to vault over cover.
    • Fixed crash when leaving for Golem City.
    • Fixed issues where the UI was offset at some aspect ratios, such as 21:9.
    • Fixed issue where vibration was not working on gamepad.
    • Fixed an issue where some keyboard language settings could cause the game to not launch (some users had a workaround by creating a new user account or by changing their keyboard language setting).
    • Fixed various issues related to Breach.
    • Fixed issues related to Tobii EyeTracking.

    Note about performance:

    Save scumming?

Exploiting the save system by saving before trying anything, so you can just reload if it goes wrong.

That's not exploiting anything. Just playing a gamd the way you want to. I hate checkpoint only saves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,371 ✭✭✭✭Zillah

There's a big difference between constantly reloading something that has a 5% chance of going in your favour until you get it, and reloading because you tripped an alarm in Deus Ex and are trying to do a stealth run.

Eitherway it's a single player game so not really anyone else's business.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,558 ✭✭✭✭dreamers75

I prefer checkpoints as it forces me to play the game and not walk 5 feet /save/walk 5 feet save.

At least by playing the game I can fail or pass the mission by actually doing it or not.

MGS Phantom Pain did this very well by not having save scumming and it worked rather well.

    Finished it last night
wow that was an abrupt ending. Again pacing is way off the final fight is way way too easy. I just dropped an emp grenade on him and then sprinted across the room for the takedown while he was stunned. Bit ridiculous tbh and the fact that there is no real choice at the end. I saved the rich dudes first and still got there in time before the bombs went off - is there even a real time limit on that?!

Despite that gripe, overall I liked the game. It had everything I love about Deus Ex with well designed and compact levels and interesting locations. It was fun breaking into random apartments and finding people's hidden stashes and hacking their stuff. Movement controls were fine only ever had one issue where I got stuck on an invisible wall. Some frustration with using E as the action button but also for opening up pocket secretaries or the mission brief. There were times I did a quick stealthy takedown and tried to pick up the body quickly just to land in the menu.

Didn't experience any major technical problems - no crashes just some framerate drops.

Story was ok not brilliant and I wish they'd drop the whole illuminati thing. Global conspiracies are fine but dropping in the illuminati on the other hand is just jaded at this stage. It does feel unfinished though and it should be probably give you a better indication of where you are in the story and that you are approaching the end so it isn't such a surprise.
I really feel there should have been another Prague level after London

But glad I picked it up and finished it. Might go back to a NG+ playthrough later.

This is my strongest sentiment coming away from it. Feels like the game was just chopped off early.

Patch 1.4 545.4_P5 has been released. More importantly, so has DX12.
We have just released another PC patch for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, v1.4 build 545.4_P5. This patch focusses on critical issues that were reported by users during the last weeks after release.

This patch will be applied by Steam automatically when you next start the game. If your game does not update, please restart the Steam client.

The following fixes are in this patch:
    - Fixed a freeze that happened for some players during the subway loading scene.
    - Fix for issue where massive stalls would occur in Prague.
    - Fixed issue where players could no longer save when they ran out of Steam Cloud space. (When the player runs out of space, the oldest saves will now be removed from the Steam Cloud. They will NOT be deleted and are still available from disk. They will remain present in your in-game ‘load game’ list.
    - Improved shadow behaviour in the distance when Contact Hardening Shadows is turned on.
    - Fixed issue where tutorial messages could stay/re-appear on-screen after completing the tutorial.
    - Fixed an issue where players could lose input control when hacking certain computers.
    - Fixed various UI issues.

Release of DirectX 12 support in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided:
As of today, users are also able to utilize the awaited DirectX 12 Graphics API. To activate this you are required to do the following:
Within your Steam Library, right-click on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
Select ‘properties’ from the context menu and navigate to the Beta tab.
From the dropdown menu, select dx12_preview then close the window.

After the game has downloaded the DirectX 12 supported build you can then toggle DirectX 12 from either the launcher window or from the Display options within the game.
Note that DirectX 12 requires a restart of the game if (de-)activated from within a running Deus Ex: Mankind Divided game session.

o WARNING: Using the DirectX 12 API can offer better performance on some systems, however, it will not be beneficial on all.
o Multi-GPU is not yet supported in this patch.
o If you encounter problems with DirectX 12, we recommend turning it off again. There are no visual or gameplay differences between the two DirectX versions.
o As always, make sure that your drivers are up to date.

    Known DirectX 12 issue:
    - There is a known bug that causes some very high end cards to regress relative to DirectX 11. This bug is being addressed by the development team.

I have a 390X and before the DX12 patch I was getting just over 30fps with everything on Ultra and AA set to 0. With the same options I am now getting an average of 46fps. I will still have to turn an option or two off to get that silky 60 fps sweet spot, but it is an improvement.

I've got a weird graphical glitch which I only started to notice after one of the post-launch patches (don't know which). I've got a GTX 1080 and run most things onhigh - ultra at 1080p at 60fps. Often, more commonly in interior sections, when I move my view, like looking around a room, the objects in the room will turn crazy bright and reflective, like taking direct sunlight. If I move the view back again it switches back to darkened. The changes are sudden and jarring and not any sort of gradual fading in, and there's no light source which would be causing this. Its getting quite distracting. Any ideas?
