Boundary Wall a Danger

    Hello,

question regarding a wall between myself and my neighbour - living here 12 odd years - about 8 years ago they put another 2 blocks on top of our wall (It was 6 blocks high -usually standard for 6inch blocks) to stop their kid throwing stuff over the wall all the time - then a fence on top. They just did it no mention of it - but i didn't mind.

So, now the wall is falling in - on my side typically - its cracked and come out of its holding by about 2 inches. Its badly leaning towards the middle and the lower blocks towards the foundation have also moved in.

I got a builder friend up last week and he basically told me not to let my kids out the back in case! And to get it redone - which would be roughly 2.5K ...

So, i've never talked much with my neighbour - i did show him this before i got my builder mate in - he seemed to not really care - then showed me his side, the crack lined up with what my side seen - he has invested a little more money skimming the wall and also has cobble stones in his back garden - which is why the wall is probably also pushed inwards as it put pressure on it during installation.

So whats best way to approach this? I'll pay for half as i feel i'd need to if the shoe was on the other foot. But more concerned if he blanks me and refuses to do anything about it? Where do i stand then?

It is a safety concern first and foremost. If i claim on insurance i'll be shafted for years on home insurance most likely!

    Advise?
