    Hi

My partner and in-laws were travelling back to China from London Yesterday with Turkish Airlines

I saw them off at Gatwick , and expected them to be In Beijing about 4 hours ago- so was waiting on a call from them to say they arrived safely ( their phones do not work outside china and I now from previous times no wifi option when transferring from Istanbul

The problem is when I check the flight on Turkish airlines and flightstats.com etc it says TK0020 has landed in Astana ( Kazakhstan) !!

I am getting this no matter if I use Flight number or just Istanbul- Beijing

Any one able to help me work out what is happening . I know flights were diverted to Astana during the coup aftermath

    This is the flight:
    TK0020 23.Aug.2016 / 01:55
    İSTANBUL/Ataturk Airport 23.Aug.2016 / 15:55
    BEIJING/Capital Airport

It's now enroute from Astana - Beijing, maybe it diverted due to medical emergency? I don't know why really ca only guess

Cheers - checked here before I checked online

Hopefully its not any of the 3 travelling - though I have a feeling it can divert there routinely - something in back of my head

Checking online, the flight was indeed diverted to Astana, but there's no details at present of why that happened, and it is now showing as having arrived in Bejing at 06:20PM, so your friends should be able to contact you before too long.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

yea - diverted due to some one having a heart attack

the lack of ways to communicate was the real problem really. thanks
