Just wondering if anyone knows if there's any differences between SUV tyres and regular car tyres? Spotted some Nexen N'Fera RU1 tyres on sale of a fairly decent price and they stock the size for my 2.0L Diesel Saloon. Nexen do a SU1 for cars and RU1 for SUVs but I'm wondering if there's any real difference?

    Cheers!

I'd guess the sidewall is bigger on average in SUVs giving the vehicle height. Should be same otherwise.

Proper offroaders like landrovers etc might have off road tyres but don't think your average Qashqai will.

SUV tyres would have a higher weight rating. Most SUV tyres have a higher ply count (thicker sidewall) for the extra weight and more puncture resistance when aired down for off roading.

Be sure they meet or exceed the required load rating.

Can I please resurrect this thread ?

I'm looking for tyres for my 08 Koleos... and just lookin on oponeo I see a mix of tyres that are the right dimensions...
And I'm focusing on ones that have an A rating for rain...

But some of them say SUV specifically....

Would the SUV ones have harder sidewalls or something ? To cope with the higher vehicle etc?

Also, are Summer tyres what we need in Ireland really? Is there any need to go All Weather?
