    Hi there

Without sounding cliched - can anyone suggest a novel wedding gift for a couple who have 'everything'? I was thinking budget of around 200-250e....

    Any suggestions appreciated!

    Thanks

    Maura

Giftcard, weekend away, dinner voucher for a really good restaurant.

I'd appreciate all of the above if it was me.

    Hmmm, so, cash, but novel.

    Origami cash?

Get them on a spiritual retreat and they'll hopefully learn how to live with nothing.

Seriously, a voucher for a meal somewhere might be nice.

Maybe get them a hotel stay for their first wedding anniversary if it's not included in the wedding package?

I got a voucher for the hotel the couple were going in they mini-moon, I double checked that it wasn't already paid for by another friend/family

Definitely something like this. Or a night away somewhere with a great restaurant. No matter if you have everything, you will always enjoy a break away or a special meal!

I think some of the posters on thread are being a bit harsh. The "have everything" thing probably means, just like a lot of people these days, that they've already got their house sorted and so don't need the traditional presents. I think it's nice to think outside the box and not just give cash.

TBH we're probably going to be in the same boat. We've got a house, we've it relatively well furnished and whilst I'd love to get myself a new computer or an Xbox One or something, that's hardly the type of thing your wedding guests should even consider buying you. It feels crass to just say "money" if someone asks what they can get you.

Voucher for a cooking class. We got one for our wedding recently and can't wait to use it. Practical, fun, start of a new hobby?

+1 for the voucher for a restaurant or hotel night away.

It's nice for the newlyweds to have that to look forward to after getting back from honeymoon, getting back to normal life, money is tight etc.

A couple I know were given a voucher for a "dine in the dark" experience in Barcelona where they were going on Honeymoon.

It was really unique and something they'll never forget. Is there something similarly unique/special that you could organise for them wherever they're going on honeymoon?

A tree might be nice like an apple tree that's not too vigorous.

Or a voucher for a garden center.

Voucher or cash. Unless you know EXACTLY what someone wants, down to the model number of whatever it is, they will end up disappointed and the gift will live forever in the attic or be re-gifted.

Unfortunate, but its the way of things in a world where we have access to everything all the time, globally.

that will live in the attic as it wont be exactly to their taste or go with anything in their home.

Money in the currency of whereever the honeymoon is, if it's in Europe, your job just got a lot easier

If they like wine what about a couple of really good bottles.

Something like you would never buy for yourself but would always like to try.

I've seen studies which show that cash is the worst possible gift for someone that has everything!
Vouchers for places they would like to go are probably your best bet OP

Personally I'm not sure I'd see the value in this. Also it says its €160, which I assume is per person, so that would be €320, which is over the OP's budget.

I think you'd only get the value if you arrived really early etc, but I always try to spend as little time at the airport as possible.

Another suggestion along similar lines would be to get them access to the premium lounge or if they're taking connecting flights to somewhere long haul and have a few hours on stop over, the lounge at the connecting airport would probably be appreciated.

Was actually looking into one of those this morning! However not sure if that would work if Electric Ireland is not their electricity supplier or if they are in a rental property.

Doesn't matter what electricity provider they have as it connects to the heating. If they are heating they would need to get the landlord's permission to install it. They would also need to get an electrician to install it

youd get an electrical heating item installed as a wedding gift? now thats novel!

Not going to lie, that's the kind of thing I'd be DELIGHTED to get! I "bought" my brother trees for his orchard when he gets around to it. 5 years later and they're not ready but hey, they know the trees are covered when they get around to it! :P

Many thanks (all ;-)) for your suggestions! I was thinking of the Blue Book idea - but love the other idea of cookery class as well - very novel!
"Baby and Crumble" - you got it right - they are a couple who have their house sorted etc - so I would love to give something that you may not necessarily get for yourself!

    Thanks all!

A friend of mine got a gift of a painting of the church she and her husband got married in for their wedding. I thought it was a great idea!

I saw somebody with this recently and it looked great.
I'd generally say cash. Vouchers can be very hit and miss in my experience.
