    Hi,

I seen what may be a Marsh Harrier today near/on the Dromore river system in Cavan? Is this possible?

Around 8am we were driving down a tiny rural road (grass in the middle), a bird flew from the hedgerow and skirted very low to the ground for around 30 yards, it then turned upwards quickly and landed on a branch for us to get a reasonable look at - it was definitely not a sparrow hawk, was too big and eyes and legs not yellow, I've had a good look at images online and reckon it could be this.

Also yesterday, in similar area I seen my first every wild barn owl!

I know the area and a Marsh Harrier would be very unusual there to say the least. Even a Hen Harrier would be rare there. It's a good area for Buzzards but you say legs weren't yellow, so I'm flummoxed.

Srameen - I would take your advice and knowledge on board - am now thinking young buzzard?

Regardless - I was on a 3 day fishing trip and have seen all sorts, kingfishers galore, the owl and the above. Makes me think what this country could be like if we (the powers that be) cherished it...
