    Hi
Regarding S&S, is there meant to be some sort of negotiation with staff about their S & S periods? We are always assigned ours with no consultation whatsoever.
I see people here mention nominating periods?
    Thanks

    http://education.ie/en/The-Department/Announcements/Circular-0042-2014-Teachers-Rostering-of-Supervision-and-Substitution-Haddington-Road-Agreement-.html

This is the circular on S&S allocation. Yes, you are supposed to get to nominate your periods in order of preference. Ultimately though it is up to the principal so the nominations often mean very little in reality. It also seems lots of schools don't follow the circular or pick and choose from it.

you should get together and have a meeting, refuse to take the periods assigned by management as they are in breach of the arrangement. You are meant to nominate 1-9 in order of your preference. We don't always get our first 5 choices, but we rarely get those numbered 8,9 !!

It's the circular unless there's a local agreement that staff prefer. Check with other staff before you go in arguing your case to have a concerted effort
