Claiming JSB during redundancy notice period

    Hi,

I was made redundant from my job last week but my employer said that I don't have to work my notice period, which ends in 4 weeks. So they are paying me in lieu of notice.
Do I have to wait until my notice period is over before I can sign on, or can I apply for it straight away since I am available for work?

    Thanks

You can't apply until after your notice period. You are still employed until that date and that's what will be on your P45. Also depending on how much redundancy you received you may have an additional waiting period. It's 1 weeks wait per €5000 over €50.000 to a max of 9 weeks once you reach €90k.

I'm not technically getting any redundancy pay, just paid up until my notice is finished plus any untaken holidays.
But since I'm not working my notice, and I am looking for work, does that not mean I can sign on straight away? I couldn't find any info online about this scenario. I guess I should still go in and ask.......the worst that can happen is they tell me to get lost!?

Hi, in this case then you sign on on the first day you are not being paid for. You can't receive a Jobseeker's payment for a day you are being paid for. You are still employed until the end of the four weeks. How long have you worked there?

    I guess that makes sense.

I'm working there since Jan 2015.

Redundancy doesn't apply then. So you can apply immediately after your notice period expires.
