Bloggers /Snapchatters thinking they are celebrities

Hi guys so I was on snapchat yesterday and a certain blogger had her baby shower .
I couldn't believe first probably how much it cost ? The whole point of it ?
Also I couldn't believe in a snap the blogger said I may be hungover tomorrow .i don't know if she was messing or what . This blogger how does she afford these things .

She keeps her husband secretive .I googled the blogger full name online and could not believe it of what I found I was in total shock . I love this blogger and watch her snaps every day and have nothing against her what's so ever but i just wondering does anyone else think bloggers and Snapchatters are taking it to far (thinking they are celebs etc )

This blogger is actually my favourite...She's comes across as 100% real on her snapchats, she is obviously very wealthy but sure what about it..she doesnt shove products down our throats like other bloggers or try and keep up this appearance of being perfect! She never comes across as condescending, i really like her!

It does all seem a bit over the top at times. That particular blogger does seem to be genuinely wealthy though rather than getting all her cash/items from companies or brands like other bloggers do (and then often don't declare this) so in a way, I suppose she is just blogging about her lifestyle. And that genuinely does seem to be her actual lifestyle and not some staged set up like many of the other bloggers who will stage an interest in a particular product,etc whilst all the time, they are in collaboration with some brand associated with said interest or product . A well known blogger has been made brand ambassador for a cruise company I see. This is my opinion is getting a bit too much. She was chosen as their lifestyle ambassador. What does that even mean in relation to the cruise company itself? It's not like this blogger has even done any travel worth mentioning or even been on any holidays of interest that followers know of. I don't see how her lifestyle goes hand in hand with a cruise ship company. Even the leading blogger would have been a more obviousc voice considering the amount of holidays she takes. I think it's all getting a bit much now where bloggers are joining forces with brands and companies that don't necessarily even make sense in terms of what their blogs or lifestyles may be about.

I know it might be stating the obvious but if you don't like the content of a blogger / "digital influencer" snapchat, just click unfollow.


I've done this with snapchat, facebook and instagram and only follow those whom I actually like. Now that excludes most of the "big name" bloggers but I was finding that I was getting so vexed and worked up about what they do (and don't do). It just wasn't worth wasting my time and energy being annoyed at someone. I have a nosy at their facebooks or instagrams the very odd time when I'm bored or curious.

That's what I've done, same as yourself. It does annoy me though when someone starts a thread on a particular topic and someone else then states that if you don't like A,B, or C then unfollow or just don't look. I don't mean this in a smart ass way, I really don't, but the same could be said for these threads whereby if you don't like what the content is about, then just don't read or just ignore.

As long as people insist on following them around social media and then discussing them on other social media.
That is pretty much the definition of celebrity.

My niece (14) was telling me about a 16 year old snap chatter in our locality. She has a few thousand followers which to be fair isn't bad going for her age. Anyway my niece knows the girl to see and was pointing her out to her friends as you do. The snap chatter kids mum came up to my niece and asked her did she want to get a photo with the snap chatter.

I spat my tea out when my niece told me. Luckily she respectfully declined. I just thought it was a bit ridiculous really.

My aunt works in a very high profile clinic where two of these influencers are treated as celebs. They enter in the back door after hours most visits unless it's for a 5 in 1 facial or a freebee

I really don't think she sees herself as a celebrity. She's one of the few somewhat private bloggers out there.
It would appear she has always lead this kind of lifestyle and isn't just flashing the cash due to sponsorship and freebies. Her house looks like a palace, she drives a Range Rover & her wedding, which was held before she even started blogging/snapping, was like something out of a magazine.
While extravagant, her baby shower looked tastefully done to me. It was a small gathering & no fellow bloggers were invited which to me looks like she actually wanted to avoid anything celebrityish. She didn't even reveal where she had the party till it was over - no name dropping before the big event which is what all the other bloggers would do.
From what I know, her husbands job would be riskier and put him at a disadvantage from that kind of exposure. I don't want to say too much but think of the kind of jobs where the general public knowing your face and name wouldn't be a good thing.
I can see why it might look OTT but if you look at it alongside the rest of her lifestyle it was to be expected. I don't think she was showing off at all. She's actually one of the few bloggers I like!

No idea who you are talking about, but private and blogger don't really mix. How is posting photos of yourself all day private?

I am talking about the blogger indicated in the OP. And by private, I mean she shows far less of her life than the other big name bloggers.
She doesn't saturate the news feed of various social media sites with every mundane detail of her ife, from the snaps of some bloggers you'd actually be able to follow them around for the day they post their current location and what they're currently up to so frequently.

No, I got your point. She may be 'more' private than other bloggers, but anybody posting up photos on the scale bloggers do about their lives is in no way a private person, not by any stretch. A private person does not let random people know what they do. The words private and blogger seem silly used in the same sentence.

I thought snapchat was for kids and teenagers.
My 15 year old son uses it,he has 20 followers lol

It's amazing how some people use these App's to measure their self esteem.

That's all I was saying - that she was more private. Never once in either of my posts did I suggest she was a completely private person, just that she was compared to other bloggers.

The reason I used the words in the same sentence is because of the title of the thread, which asked do others think she sees herself as a celebrity. I said no, because of the reasons I outlined, the main one being she has less flashy and more private than other bloggers.

I was answering the thread but you seem to be taking issue with my choice of words, even though I never said what you seem to think I was implying.

You are absolutely spot on!!! In all her snaps etc. you can tell she is being 100% herself! she obviously comes from a well to do background and can afford the nicer things in life but she's not shoving different products down your face and fawning over freebies etc.! I really like her genuine excitement for the simplest things!! Definitely my favourite blogger personality wise!

I think all of these types of threads (and there have been a few at this stage) focus on a very specific type of blogger, usually in the Beauty/Lifestyle area. I don't snapchat but I post to IG frequently and follow bloggers in my space, and I never see anything over the top as described here! I'm assuming it's because I have no interest in fashion or beauty blogging?

I also looked up this blogger with her real name , out of curiosity and was amazed and shocked to be honest at what i found!! She was , in my opinion one step away from being a glamour model!!! Saw pics of her in her underware, professional pics!!! She was also on a tv programme called Football Factory or something like that!!! So im sorry i dont really buy this hollier than thou act she puts on! or that silly baby voice !!! And yes i do think she flaunts what she has, but she does it ever so subtle! but yes she does it!! its wasnt so long ago she put up a snap of a load of €50's strewn accross her bed for "picking out a pair of runner"!! she was after getting paid to pick out runners on snapchat from Footlocker in Cork and then boasting about it !! laughing about it , but put that snap up on her blogger snap rather than personal snap, it wasnt long up there though!!! Shes as fake as the rest !! if not more so

While I don't agree with most of your post, I don't object to it because your entitled to your own opinion but that first part really struck me.

I don't see what relevance those photos have, it almost comes across a bit like your trying to slut shame her.
As far as I'm aware she did modelling with those companies for a few years and if the pictures are googleable it's hardly like she's trying to keep it a secret, she's in her 30s now and those jobs were done when she was in her early 20s.
Flaunting her wealth and lifestyle is a matter of opinion but I just don't understand what issue you have with her modelling is, even if it was glamour modelling, so what?

I never once said she was a slut or did in fact do anything slutty or never did i imply that the pictures were in fact making her a slut??? so how in the name of god can i be slut shaming ????????? i only made reference to the pictures because IN MY OPINION they are a far cry from the image she is portraying today!! i dont care what she did in her twenties or her teens, i was just trying to say that to me, she is putting on this wholesome sue image and being all ditzy and not at all fame hungry but these pictures say to me , something totally different! she was trying to get famous , in any way she could , and about the recent snap with her surrounded by 50€ on her bed, boasting about how much she made for picking out runners, confirms it to me! shes not ditzy or wholesome , but in it for what she can get out of it and that include the fame !!!!!!!!!

You obviously have an issue with glamour modelling if you think it's a contradiction. You wouldn't have brought it up if you didn't think there was something wrong with it so don't delude yourself. There is nothing wrong with glamour modelling.

A long long time ago, celebrity meant 'worthy of celebration', in terms of some achievement, skill, or attribute on the part of the celebrated.

Look its all a matter of opinion, some like her, some dont! i really did at the very start of her blogging days but just turned off her, for various different reasons. As i said different people, different opinions

Was she a model in the past? Plenty of former models have stood on Grafton St in their undies promoting the lotto. Now they're bloggers with huge followings.
Now this one is in her 30s and married with a new baby. People change, why would the caps lock person or anyone else have an issue with it?

I'll just second this, it sums up everything I wanted to say when I also got a caps lock happy reply from the same poster to my point, but I just couldn't put it into words.
