Have sky 14 years now and always had certain amount of disruption to signal when it rained fairly heavy.I have noticed lately that even with a light shower rte1 and 2 lose their signal but all other channels are ok, when I switch over to aerial signal, the rte's are ok.
Would I need to have the dish realigned just for the rte signal?

Sounds like your dish is badly aligned but after 14 yrs it could be starting to rust and the front bar mite be sagging slightly so the dish might need replacing.

True, just thought it strange that it was only happening with the rte channels while all other channels remained stable.

Makes sense as some freqs cope better than others.Agree with all the above.

14 years on the same dish must be some kind of record, perhaps it's due a place in a museum :pac:

How much is a new replacement sky size dish anyway. Best to replace the lnb's also if upgrading?

get a triax , much sturdier and built to last.

I've got the same sky dish that was installed when sky digital started, more than 14 years. I did grease all the bolts etc after sky put it up. No longer use it for sky, just Freesat.

Well you obviously dont live in a coastal area Winston.

Where I live along the coast there are plenty of rusted oul sky dishes, that would just disintegrate in your hand. Greasing the bolts will not help the rest of the dish rust to nothing.

Infact if anything the Sky dishes are getting worse in quality. The latest ones I have seen are flimsy yokes, but what can you expect for something that can be bought with a quad lnb for €20/25.

I would suggest that anyone who is thinking of replacing them gets a Triax TD88 which can be bought for about €45.

You wont be up and down a ladder adjusting them when theres a gust of wind.

+1 for triax, been using same dish for the last 10 years, has not budged in all that time and not a spot of rust on it, original quad lnb (technomate) still spot on.
