Could someone recommend a reputable company that could fit some sort of mechanical ventilation (be it PIV/Flatmaster, some sort of heat recovery system or any other type) without destroying the whole apartment? South Dublin area...

have you approval from management company for whatever external work will be required?

The idea would be to use existing vents/holes... I don't think anything else will be allowed (and if - I'd have to know what exactly needs to be done before applying for permission I think...)

Depending on the layout of the apartment you may not get much X ventilation with some of the wall mounted stuff, will send u one link, the stuff is not cheap but it may do what yo want

Thanks. At this stage I don't really care about the cost. I just need it to be done... And the apartment is rather "tricky" in terms of ventilation so I'd need somebody who knows exactly what they are doing...

Is there an intermittent mech vent in the bathroom? If so, then perhaps this can be replaced with a long life 2 speed inline fan that reacts to humidity or bathroom light.

Yes -there is. There's two bathrooms, each has mech vent and both are ducted out the apartment (under the plasterboard so it won't be easy to get to the ducting). I was thinking about installing a bit modern (ie. more efficient and quiet) fans and run them continuous mode - this way I wouldn't have to strip plasterboard to access ducting - and I'm guessing the inline fan you were referring to requires access to ducting (but I know nothing about ventilation so correct me if I'm wrong)...

BTW - does anybody know about any company/man who knows about ventilation (and I mean really knows ventilation) and could have a look and advice? I'd need somebody who knows modern ventilation systems (and not just a hole in the wall ;))

Given that you already have ducting and holes in the walls, perhaps you should research a dcv system (demand control ventilation).

On you second question, in my experience it is difficult to find the correct expert who isn't trying to flog you his system regardless whether it is suitable.
I have just upgraded my own ventilation system in my 2 bed rental and time will tell if it is successful or not. What I have learnt though is that you really need good access to the ducting to make it work (breaking eggs and all that) and future maintenance.

I'd go even further and say it's hard to find _any_ ventilation expert (ie. somebody who knows what they're doing).

Anyway - can you tell me what system/vendor did you use for your apt?
