There is less inter-state war compared to the 70s & 80s.
Though the Sudan civil war was disastrous too, but relatively isolated now.

There is a sex famine here in Co.Mayo. I am thinking of taking the next ship to New York where I expect things to be a lot better.

There's always a famine somewhere in Africa.

but as long as their corrupt Govs spend all their money on sex, drugs and weapons, their people will never have enough to eat.

Plus, they need to stop having 10 kids each when they haven't got enough food for 2.

Trocaire and other commercial charities need to be giving out condoms instead of food to them.

where are they going to give out condoms??? first port of call should be when they seek asylum here in Ireland. The system is over abused.

The Catholic Church won't allow them to use condoms though.

Maybe the starving should pray to the Lord to feed them.

Is that because you think that condoms are edible or because you want them to stop "breeding" so quickly?....... Too many of "them" for your liking????

    Or maybe both?

Bit like us Irish in the 19th century.... on another topic, where do your great great grandparents come from?

I am reminded of this old, somewhat controversial article by Kevin MyArse

Edit: The original article that was referenced in the one above has been scrubbed from independent.ie but I found a copy online here

Funny how, in 120yrs, we went from a country with a huge famine to one that is now a civilised, modern one.

Some African countries seem to be making no progress.

What did we do right that they can't? Oh yes, we learned from our mistakes.

I am in no way condoning the killing of poor people, they are doing that themselves with the help of their Governments.

My great great great grandparents, no idea, never traced my family tree.

Sad but true that article. The whole chugger campaign over the last few decades gas all being about the children etc but at the same time the place is becomming a bigger hellhole instead of getting better. Instead of sorting out their own problems they then want to come here instead. Where will it end.... :/

I don't think many people have much interest in it anymore. Progress inspires people whereas massively unsustainable population growth along with war and dictatorships makes people want to ignore it.

"Donate money, clothes and food so it can be stolen and sold on the black market."

Despite receiving more than $1 trillion from the west over the last half century, Africa remains in dire economic straits. Dambisa Moyo thinks aid is to blame and should stop now

    Tiresome church bashing is tiresome.

The catholic church is causing famine in 99% Muslim Somalia?

Something like 14% of Africa is Catholic.
