BMW E46 reverse sensors long beep

Sometimes when I put the car into reverse I get a long steady beep from the reversing sensors, but other times they make no noise.

I've checked the car a few times with the OBD2 scanner and it never gives me any codes about the reverse sensors, even though they haven't worked since I picked up the car, but I'm wondering now if there's something simple that I could do to them seeing as I don't always get the warning beep and there's no error codes being thrown?

If you put your ear close to the sensor you will hear a ticking noise if you check all 4 you probably notice 1 is making no noise this would be the faulty one.

You'll get replacement on eBay cheap enough

OBDII scanner won't detect faulty reverse sensor

    Cheers for that!

Just had a listen, it's the middle two that are gone. Of course the black sensors are €8 while the ones in the colour I need are €35...

If your carefully you can lightly spray paint sensor to match body colour but then you have to add the cost of tin of spray paint.

    That's a bargain :D

The ones for the E60 are about €25 unpainted and €125 painted!
