Tiling outside steps - which tiles to use

I've got a few quotes for tiles for outside concrete step leading up to an upstairs loft. One tile has an R value of 11 and the other R12 (the higher the rating, the less slippy). The R12 is considerable more expensive but much less slippy. Has anyone worked with these and know if I really should go with the R12. Lot of info on this here by the way: http://www.floorslip.co.uk/floor-slip-ratings.html

Have used both R11 and R12 surfaces in bathrooms in public buildings. From what I remember there was a noticeable difference in the roughness of the two - I suppose this is to be expected for the R12 to have the better slip resistance but the difference surprised me at the time.

Only advice I have is that the roughness that gives grip also collects dirt and is tough to clean so pick your colour carefully and see if you can view ones in that colour that have been down for a few years.

barney, You posted a pic of this building some time ago and IIRC there are trees nearby so just to echo MT, you could be getting into a world of hurt work wise here to keep it clean and safe.
Is there a hand rail on the stairs?

Yes trees nearby so there will be a bit of work keeping things clean.

I've a handrail ordered but not yet fitted as I will be moving a lot of stuff in and out until I get moved in. Then the rail will be fitted.
