    Hi folks,
I'm hoping someone here can help. There's a particular site from which I want to order clothes. They insist on a uk delivery and billing address. I have a parcel motel account so have the delivery address but my billing address is here in the Republic. I tried putting in the parcel motel address as my billing address but it wouldn't accept it.

Is there any way around this, does anyone know?

How does it know? Can't you just put in any UK address.

It's not like they'll post you a receipt.

If you tried to pay with a credit card drawn on and Irish Bank the system would download your address with the card details and realise its not a UK address

You may be able to get around the problem by paying via Paypal where your Irish address will not be visible to the site payment system

So, it's not possible to pay by PayPal on that particular site. Has anyone any other suggestions or am I doomed not to get the lovely clothes?!

I don't think the site itself matters so much, it's how to get around their address policy that's the issue

If you post the site someone might have a solution. Have you tried calling the customer support number or sending them an email?

Yeah I sent their customer service an email and got a blunt 'you need a uk billing address' one line reply

It does, if the site has specific procedures people may have worked around before.

Maybe you could buy a prepaid credit card online and register the address on that as parcel motel.

have you tried the addresspal address as it's in England?

Maybe buy a prepaid credit card in Northern Ireland.

You could get an AnPost £ Currency Card, once you have it you can change the billing address to your Parcelmotel address online.

However the rates they offer for loading suck.

Also your bank might allow you to add the Parcelmotel address as secondary billing address, however I'm not sure that any Irish Bank actually has implemented that feature.

Yeah I tried the parcel motel uk address but it wouldn't accept it- seemed to be able to recognise that it wasn't my billing address

Thanks to everyone for suggestions. I'll try getting a prepaid card with the parcel motel uk address.

I recall buying games on Xbox in dollars... you could use a US address - except for the first line which is your actual billing address first line.

This is because the bank only checked the first line of the billing address, and ignored the rest, except to check what country for the price to charge.

Your parcel motel as billing address failed as the merchant bank was actually checking your billing address was valid.

    Might be worth a go.

I have offered to send money via paypal with the additional fees needed to cover the percentage on their end. e.g. if the item was €100 I offer them €104 or €105. Many companies will have paypal addresses but not want to openly offer it as I think slapping on that charge is against the rules.

Accepting UK only addresses is usually to cover themselves against fraud.

This would probably only work with smaller companies, so as you are being secretive I cannot guess if it is worth trying.
