    These ones (http://www.wiggle.com/campagnolo-shamal-ultra-mega-g3-clincher-wheelset/)

Bought these two years ago. Have some normal scuffs them, but never crashed, no dings or nicks in the rims, little enough wear on the braking surface. Hubs absolutely perfect; wheels as true as they came from the factory. A couple of the drive-side spokes on the back wheel have lost a bit of colour; one of the decals on the front wheel has a scrape on it.

These are great wheels, and they look fantastic; reviews are consistently enthusiastic. Wiggle has them for 820-odd (list 1100-odd); bike-components has them for 800.

    Shimano 11-speed.

Yours for 500 euro; 475 if collected in Deansgrange.

Pictures...were too big - sorry. If you want bigger pix, just ask?

Offer 300 and can collect in Deansgrange

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,741 ✭✭✭brownian

@weepsie - about 2-3000. QR skewers - yes, but may not be campag; not sure if they came with; spacer v likely if I can lay hands on it (was running 11).

@alexzont - I'll give weepsie the chance to make an offer. If he doesn't offer asking [325] by 1800 tomorrow, I'll accept your offer, thank you.

Both offers are subject to inspection, of course.

MOD VOICE:Not the way it works at all. Weepsie did not make an offer, and now TheDocMan has made an offer of asking.

Unfortunately, in my reading, you have defacto accepted alexzont for 300 as you have made it clear you will accept that, it is therefore your asking price now.

Please read the forum rules before posting again.

The sale is to alexzont, if it falls through, it goes to TheDocMan, for 300euro.

    Any queries please PM me.

I have not yet offered the asking, due to being distracted at work this evening, and you've pipped me to it so as per forum rules you are the first to offer asking. (a recent thread descended into chaos because of something similar it).

I was typing that as Cram posted it.

MOD VOICE: I am going to get one of the other mods to double check, as it would appear the OP was willing to accept the 300 offered, so to me that is the new asking price. Hopefully back with clarification shortly.

I'm also interested to see how this works out.... not for any real reason, other than I love a bit of complicated advert confusion :) ... Also I have some new unused Campagnolo skewers with tags if someone needs them.

MOD VOICE: I have not heard back from the other mods so I am sticking with my original call.
The item is for alexzont at 300euro, if it falls through, it is for TheDocMan.
If you feel I have made the wrong decision, please report my post and another mod will hopefully look over it.

I think Mod decision is fair tbh so next in line after Alex zone if sale falls through.

Gosh - all that mod-voice shouting.

I'm happy to abide by CramCycle's ruling, but I think it's a prioritisation of simplicity over fairness.

My intention was to give Weepsie first dibs, as he'd been the first to show interest, but if he didn't want the wheels, then to accept Alex's price. I didn't say to Weepsie that I'd accept 300, and so IMHO didn't drop the asking. I would in fact have refused Weepsie if he'd offered 300, because Alex had already done so.

So to be fair to Weepsie, I think he should have first dibs, at 325. If CramCycle agrees, I'll donate the 25 euro to Vincent de Paul. If CramCycle disagrees (as I expect), then Alex gets the wheels.

Before I get a MOD VOICE knuckle-rapping for having an opinion, let me say that I'm not arguing with the ruling, I'm jsut explaining what I intended.

More generally, if a seller says 'I want 100, but if I don't get it by 1800 tomorrow, I'll accept 90', then the asking price (what the seller is asking) is 100 euro, surely? While there's an argument that says that such a posting may string along bidders who have offered 90, this doesn't apply if the seller also includes a deadline. In fact what's happening is that
    - up to 1800 the next day, the asking is 100
    - after 1800, the asking is 90.

The charter doesn't say anything about this scenario...

Anyway, over to CramCycle; If I don't hear back from CramCycle by midnight tonight, then his ruling applies with no further discussion!

MOD VOICE: Don't worry, its not a knuckle rapping, it is simply to distinguish when I am posting as a mod and when I am posting as a poster. I don't want people to confuse the two, it unfortunately comes accross as a stern teacher or a cross parent.
The rules are not there for simplicity, it is for sanity. We have had many scenarios like this over the years, and until we got strict on the rules, threads used to descend into a clusterf*ck on a regular basis. We don't make exceptions because, as the saying goes, if you make an exception for one, you must make it for all.
It has happened before so I am aiming for consistency rather than fairness (sorry). If you had just said I will wait until tomorrow to consider your offer, and mentioned nowt about accepting the lower offer, there would not be an issue.
I realise I am being a really annoying letter of the law rather than spirit of the rules type about it but unfortunately, while I think everyone here is nice and would have went with whatever was said (nice people that you all are), some muppet in a future thread would use this as an example when a vaguely similar situation comes up.

On a personal note, I get where you are coming from, and agree with it, and in this thread it would have worked out fine, it is just other threads where this falls apart, consistency is the key, much to the disappointment of many in the thread.

That's a great piece of sensible and reasonable moderation. Far too often moderation on this forum comes over a far too heavy handed, so its great to see this and it's assisted by reasonable particpants in the entire post.
    Bula bas all around....
