Tuner Problem

Running an Amiko Alien 2 on E2.

For some reason when I run a Automatic scan it wont find certain channels.

For example, it gives me ITV2 but not ITV London.

Same for other channels It will give me Channel 4 but not BBC One.

Any ideas? When I run Autobouquets its just putting the names in grey because it cannot find them.

A full scan should give you 827 TV channels according to KingofSat. If you are missing a few hundred it could be down to a LNB problem, where only one polarization Horizontal or Vertical is being received. This would require a new LNB to fix. You could identify this by doing a single scan on some H and V transponders.

You can see some mentions of this problem on a previous thread.

Are they all of one polarization?

That's my theory blown out of the water. Have you tried to re-install E2?

Yeah. I took my own Kernel from my working box and flashed that in. When that didnt work i went and took Zardoks image from the Engima thread and tried that. Same thing. I really can't figure it out. I know its not my setup because one box works and I took the not properly working one to a friends and it didnt show there either... So its definitely a setting.

I tried putting the cables into the Second Tuner and it is like its dead, its not picking up anything there. I'm starting to think its fecked.

Just went through the channels there. The channels that are working are all in Horizontal Polarisation. The ones i checked that are working with Vertical Polarisation also have one in Horizontal and thats whats clicked.

So is it possible that my tuner is broken and cant pick up V only H?

Or as I suggested before, the LNB is faulty. I am only basing this on what was on another thread here. There is much more about it on Google.

If it is not too much trouble to install a new LNB that would be the first thing to do.

Would the fact that my other Amiko Alien box is running ok on it not negate that fact?

Well, since it behaved similarly when connected to your friend's LNB, one would suspect that to be the case, rather than the LNB being at fault, & since it's the vertical channels that are failing, it isn't voltage drop in the cable either.

There is an option in E2 tuner configuration menu to turn on increased voltage.

Turn it on and see if it makes a difference.

I would be seeking to eliminate an image problem before blaming hardware.

If you are messing with kernels and using other peoples images, it possibly the best way of messing up your box and wrecking your own head!

I am guessing that something in the images tuner config has been changed.

If the tuner voltage increase doesnt sort it, get a fresh image and then install a v-hanibal or other pre-tuned channels list from the feeds.
