Hi, so I had a leak underneath my engine and was losing the liquid coolan and it was over heating and bubbling, I brought it to a mechanic and was told it was the head gasket , so I got a second hand engine put in as it would've worked out cheaper that way, so I got my car back a few days ago and it bubbled the first 2 days, so I rang the mechanic and he said it's going to do that for about a week until everything flushes out of the engine, it hasn't bubbled in 2 days but I'm starting to lose liquid coolan again, not as quick as I was losing it before I got the new engine but I'm starting to have the same issue again, and I don't want to keep ringing the mechanic as I seem to be having more problems with my car since he took it before he even had it, so what could be the issue here? Another leak or something.. 1.3 Ford Fiesta 2003

The coolant shouldnt bubble or leak for a week, your mechanic either hasnt a clue or is an idiot. A coolant system is a closed system when it is operating within the normal parameters it wont bubble. If it bubbles there is air in the system.

    Just a couple of suggestions

My first suggestion is find a new mechanic.
My second suggestion is never go near the previous mechanic ever again.

Is the needle for the coolant temp going past the mid point ? Is there a mayo type substance at the oil cap?

Did your mechanic even bleed the system properly? I mean to have two engines do the same thing in the same car must have serious odds stacked against it.

Heater matrix in the car split? System can't hold pressure and liquid boiling. Under what conditions does it bubble/boil?

Had this on a mini once, split in the hater matrix, when engine turned off the pressure spiked when the coolant stopped flowing. This caused the water in the block to boil and generate more pressure...

Just to backtrack a second, was it your mechanic that said replacing the head gasket would be the same price as replacing the engine?
Second hand engines are a bit of a minefield. Your 'new' engine could be as bad or worse then your old one.
Regardless of all of that, your mechanic seems a bit odd. If he done his job properly the replacement engine should have been bled out, serviced and the timing belt checked if not replaced.

Edit: where does your mechanic believe the engine is being 'flushed out' to? It's a closed system...
