Like an ability to write "please dont assault me" in large, friendly letters?

Since a nail file or screwdriver can be considered a weapon in this country, something called tactical for self defence use is not going to be legal.

9.—(1) Subject to subsections (2) and (3), where a person has with him in any public place any knife or any other article which has a blade or which is sharply pointed, he shall be guilty of an offence.

    (2) It shall be a defence for a person charged with an offence under subsection (1) to prove that he had good reason or lawful authority for having the article with him in a public place.

    (3) Without prejudice to the generality of subsection (2), it shall be a defence for a person charged with an offence under subsection (1) to prove that he had the article with him for use at work or for a recreational purpose.

    (4) Where a person, without lawful authority or reasonable excuse (the onus of proving which shall lie on him), has with him in any public place—

    (a) any flick-knife, or

    (b) any other article whatsoever made or adapted for use for causing injury to or incapacitating a person,

he shall be guilty of an offence.

I would say illegal, I doubt anyone would believe you had a proper need for such a pen

Perfectly legal, you just can't walk around with it or use it on anyone.

Well, they say it's mightier than the sword. So, that must make it illegal.

I have one of these pens. I carry it in my pocket when going in to town.

Perfectly legal. You can even bring them on planes.

I bought a bunch of these of one of the Chinese sites a while back, handy to have in the wallet (yes I do have a reasonable excuse to carry it there) but what surprised me more i's the amount of times I have been through airport security with them in my wallet and never been pulled over for it. No intention to take it through I just forget that I have it in there :D

Back of a matchbox calculations: you have a 0.34% chance of being assaulted, it's less, but the CSO stats don't break out assault on its own and lump in Attempts/threats to murder, assaults, harassments and related offences.
So the reality is you are highly unlikely to be a victim of such a crime.
One could argue that carrying a tactical pen actually may well increase your potential danger: you may have a greater, and ultimately false, sense of security and expose yourself to situations you may otherwise have avoided. The assailant could easily disarm you and turn your tactical pen on you. You may, stupidity, decide to try defend your self rather than taking the far safer option of legging it!
Unless you train frequently for such situations your best bet is to leave such devices in the hands of gun tooting Americans who fear impending Armageddon and the imminent Zombie invasion!

Not much, as far as I can see. It's made of aluminium, which makes it more durable than an ordinary pen, but it's only 13 cm long and only weighs 37g, so it's nowhere near long enough or heavy enough to have a bit of heft as a blunt instrument. And it has no blade, unless you count the nib, which is a bit of a stretch.

Unless I'm missing something, I'd have to say that the tactical value of this pen is negligible. It should stand up well to impact, though, so if you're involved in a car crash and have to sign hospital admission papers immediately afterwards` you'll have a working pen, but that's about it.

It's a bit like having a tactical dinner fork, except you can write with it.

It has a sort of pointy bit at the non-nib end that might hurt if you were jabbed with it. But being stabbed with a Biro would probably be worse.

Legal as in a guard found you carrying it and gave you the ok? Or legal as in you used it to defend yourself and a judge gave you the ok? Or legal as in I carry it and haven't got into trouble

What an odd thing to say, what do you plan doing with it on a plane ?

Writing things down, defeating a hijacker, defending one's self once arriving in Glasgow.

This really is some of the best salesmanship I've ever seen:

    Blade Edge No
    Blade Finish/Color No
    Blade Style/Shape No
    Clip Type No
    Clip Position No
    Glass Breaker No
    Handle Material No
    Lanyard Hole No
    MOLLE Compatible No
    Sheath Type No
    Use Every Day, Tactical

It's got no features but it's still an everyday, tactical.

Well, in fairness, no particular tactics are specified. This pen is highly tactical if your chosen tactics include "writing stuff down", "drawing pictures and diagrams" and "ticking boxes on forms".

For just US$125, you get a pen that doesn't just write words. <<Mod:Deleted. rude>>

People have had ordinary biros stuck in them. Tactical pen/ self defence pen or whatever is capable of penetrating humans. Not the best idea in Ireland

It's in the shape of a kubaton. It's made to sit a certain way in your hand, the way you grip it helps with a fist striking. And the pointed edge is used to manipulate pressure points.

well I think it is 😂😂😂
